Apple is promoting stronger glass on every of their iPhones for over a decade and nothing has changed. This is how much they lie to you. But you keep ignoring it year by year for an even better camera and more exclusive gimmicks.
There is no lie. Apple has never said the glass would never crack, especially when dropped. You should do some research before making more comments like this one.

I really don't understand the Nokia nostalgia.

Sure, you could use them as a weapon. But the sound quality was HORRIBLE. Every time I talked to somebody with one I'd always ask "You've got a Nokia, don't you?" And they'd always wonder how I knew. It was because they sounded like crap.

Never had that problem with an old Motorola or Panasonic.
Not gonna nitpick on this. I had my share of different brands (Ericsson, Nokia, Alcatel etc). Anything would do here for me. I wasn’t trying to be Nokia nostalgic. Just dumb-phone nostalgic ☺️

I'm curious, I'm sure screen protectors are great for accidental scratches, but does anyone really know if they help at all for shattering due to a drop? Seems to me the same energy is still reaching the display.
Definitely there’s a risk of “survivor bias” here. Buy a new phone. Put random screen protector on it. Accidentally drop it. Screen protector gets a crack and now you’re happy you put it on. But you still don’t know if the phone’s own screen would have survived the same drop without screen protector. Now you will definitely get one on your next phone.

Purely anecdotal, but we have gone through 10 iPhones or so in my family. Latest “generation” apart from mine have screen protectors on. Only those have cracked. Mine is without a crack. My wife’s 11 Pro got a crack in her screen protector after a month. Her previous 5 and two SE’s were without and never had a crack.

yeah. Someone else posted their own anecdotal story of several screen protectors getting shattered but the phone's display being scratch free. Now while the protector may have done it's job, another possibility is that the protector being more exposed relative to a case (that I assume they had) cracked because of a edge impact and that protector being more exposed than the main display. I tried to apply a couple protectors but even with a guide device they weren't perfectly positioned so I'm going without. My previous 13 pro only had a couple of barely visible scratches that maybe came from keys.

lol ‘Hey guys, I’m going to smash this device with a hammer, let’s see what happens!’

Motorola’s ShatterShield was the closest thing to unbreakable I can think of so far. I could be wrong.

The main issue with that was that pesky outer layer that scratched to all get out. Does that happen with the foldables (scratches)

Yes there is. The lie is that the glass gets stronger and stronger every year.

wow. first drop on both the front and the back and the phone is unusable junk.

lets see someone do something as easy as open it up and replace the battery now.

SAD. disappointed.

I'll hold on to my Samsung S24.

No one survives, it seems

All i know is that I work installing solar panels on roofs all day, and my iphones take a beating. Before this job i usually went case less… but after numerous cracked screens I always use a case & screen protector now. Screen protectors do mainly prevent scratches, but I also think they do provide some protection from drops. Since using a screen protector, I haven’t had any front screen shatters. But have shattered the tempered glass screen protector.

I saw an iPhone 6 fly out of a fair ride (something like the Zipper) at a height of about 30 or 40 feet. It bounced off the metal grate in front of the ride and landed in grass. The girl got it back from the ride attendent and it had no scratches, nor did it have a case. That’s when I decided Apple can make pretty good phones.
