I really like the removal of that tacky orange from the button!

I also cannot believe how awful that screen looks, as if it was shoved violently into the case of a smaller watch.

I mean, whatever works for you. There is a guy who posted pics of polishing his Ti watch and it looks nice, polished vs brushed finish.

Well I’m not sure why Apple doesn’t offer any customizable options on this product. Surely they could’ve offered some alternate colors for the body finish and the button color?
I feel with supply chain issues, they, Apple, went the simple route. More than likely, as time goes by and supply chain issues are resolved, maybe more options will be available...

First, I think there is nothing wrong with the way the Ultra looks for its intended market. Rugged sport watches should look like this. And they pretty much all do. The things I dislike about the Ultra have practical reasons for being. I used to wear a humongous Garmin sport watch for running.

BUT…I was never wanting to wear my Garmin to work or out on a date. And I don’t think I’ll ever want to wear this Ultra whenever I’m dressing up either.

There are 5 things I hate about the design when I consider wearing it as a normal everyday watch. The ”tallness”, the hunchback which is the crown guard, the holes everywhere, the orange button, and the finish which looked like Starlight aluminum. There is nothing that can be done about the first 3 but the last 2 are solvable.

I got out my trusty Dremel this morning and forever rid the watch of that nasty orange on the action button. Then I proceeded to give the watch a brushed finish like my old Series 5 Edition has. It may not be to everyone’s liking, but I gotta say, I’m really liking my Ultra more after this.

I still won’t ever wear it with a suit, but I’m more likely now to use it when going out and about in town in jeans.

They need an ultra luxury. Polished Stainless steel. Thick as well.

This thing just looks like a hooked up Jeep. While the series 8 polished steel looks like a Bentley sedan. Two different markets.

If we send you ours, will you make ours better, too?!

Even Rolex Submariners and Panerais started out as tool watches. Now, you can find people wearing Submariners and Panerais in corporate board rooms and worn with three piece suits. Over time, aesthetic sense and tastes change. What looks odd to this generation may be completely normal to the next. I admit Apple watches looked odd to me at first, but I've grown to like the way they look, especially the new Ultra.

Did you use the dremil to brush the Watch too or a Scotchbrite?

@perezr10 First of all, well done! The watch looks beautiful.

Question: what would you recommend as the best method for removing scratches on the Ultra if you wanted to maintain the original titanium finish?

I am not sure I care enough about the orange on the dial or the button to even worry about it lol. That said, I do like what you did with yours, well done 👍🍺

I honestly would be too scared to try. And, if there was an issue, and it needed to be replaced via warranty, or Apple Care, surely Apple would reject the claim, no?

After all, $799 isn't exactly cheap...

I would certainly think so. To me, if I have to modify a purchase to "make it work" for me, I'd probably wouldn't make that purchase, but that is just me and everyone else out there can do however they please.

Thanks. What a great post!

I definitely would buy it without the colored action button. 100%. I don't love that orange button at all.

I think the hunchback isn't going to age well in terms of beauty/style. I assume Apple will make that less ugly in future watches which will instantly date the current Ultra. But I doubt that will happen anytime soon?

Great look overall. Thanks for posting! Nice job.

i wear suits all the time and the ultra is just fine. band it well and you’ll be good. i don’t have the metro gene, so the bigger and bulkier it is, the better. this isn’t a ladies watch.
Uh oh, better let ladies know they should return the watch so manly men can scoop it up. Ones with beards and big trucks, who make the brave journey to Costco every two weeks 🤣

Edit: Kidding aside it’ll look fine with a suit. Luddites in every age. No surer sign something will be accepted than when it first meets with resistance (apathy is the death knell).

The idea of painting titanium should scare any long time Apple buyer.

It’s also a niche product.

It’s not about what others think. The problem is that I think it’s ugly. When I’m sitting in a chair and I see the watch, it’s an assault to my eyes.

And the tallness of the watch will make my shirts stick above the watch. Yeah, there are pictures of long sleeves over the watch. But as soon as you swing your arms when you walk, it’s gonna get stuck above the watch again.
Wow, I have the opposite opinion. I think it looks great. Very rugged and I like a large wrist watch
