If Apple put a sign on the website saying "press conf" tonight at my house around 9, bring beer, do you think the press would have trouble getting to the party?

It's Apple, not the President of the U.S. It dosen't have have a dedicated press Corp that camps out in Cupertino like those assigned to cover the Prez. Reporters that cover Apple live all over the world & cover other companies too. So yes, they need the courtesy of a little lead time to make travel plans.

I never said this guy was right, did I??

Honestly, please read my post again...

I just relayed what I was told today and he has a 50/50 chance of being right. Either they will announce this week or they won't. Honestly, I don't care and it doesn't directly affect me in any way.

When they do indeed announce the stuff, I'll either call my Verizon Store or go into the Website and order one, I'm sick of the Droid.

Y

Hey if you like 50/50 odds so much here is more: put all your money on Red if there is no "00". It's true. But an Apple Store manager revealing unreleased Apple news is 100% BS.

Im hoping for 4 inches or my next phone will be Android or Windows phone.

If you have to pick between those two, then go with Windows Phone 7. After using many different Froyo roms, many Gingerbread roms, and now currently WP Mango I can say Mango is your best bet. If I wasn't getting an iPhone, I would be scooping up one of HTC's recent WP Mango phones they just announced.

"Get your pre-order tickets here!"

"For what?"

"The new iPhone."

"What's it look like?"

"We have no idea."

"What are the new features?"

"Dunno."

"When can we actually see what you're selling?"

"No clue."

"How much?"

"Stop asking so many questions and just do what we tell you."

Haha, this gave me a nice laugh. But at the same time you make a valid point. This is exactly what's happening. I can see this backfiring very easily.

Apple needs to focus on getting iOS 5 polished and making sure that the iCloud launch isn't the unmitigated debacle that the MobileMe launch was. There is zero need for Apple to rush this launch.

Although I'm getting tired of waiting, the wait will be so worth it if everything is up and running perfectly from launch day. After the overhyped antenna problems from the iPhone 4, Apple probably wants a perfect launch for the successor to the iPhone 4.

I understand that Apple isn't hyping anything, but the fact remains that the iPhone 5 is probably the most hyped product ever.

If they wait 16 months from the iPhone 4 release with all this hype just to release an "iPhone 4s," Tim Cook's first product launch as official CEO would look like a failure.

That's the beauty of Apple. They don't need to do very much in terms of advertising because most of it is done for them. Other companies envy this success and wish they could be Apple.

Anyway, the sun will explode because Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz will create an explodenator and blow up the sun so he could generate and sell electricity to the whole tri-state area!

Love the Phineas and Ferb reference.

Some people have pointed out that people are pre-ordering sight unseen. There is only one company in the world that can do this, it's Apple. They have built up so much goodwill with customers, delivering hit product after hit product, they could take pre-orders for iPhone 6 and they would sell out overnight. Any other product from any other company and people would "wait and see".

It's amazing what Steve Jobs accomplished.

Again, this is the beauty of Apple. What Steve has built up over the years is something to be admired by business folk everywhere. Every business owner wishes their company can get to the level Apple has gotten to.

That was really a good idea to grab the market and earn profits. Even people feel it will be the most convenient method to book the new Iphone. Good idea from Deutsche Telekom.

Way to kill existing iPhone 4 sales, I'm sure Apple is just thrilled with this little publicity stunt from one of their supposed partners. :)

Everyone already knows that the next iPhone is coming. For the grandmas out there who don't know, many carriers began lowering prices on the iP4 long ago.

That's not how probability works. Just because there are only two possible outcomes it doesn't follow that each outcome is equally likely. For example, my train could either turn up this morning or not. Since it almost always turns up that's probably the far more likely outcome.

I'm all for anything that cuts down on the number of twits who feel the need to camp outside stores days before it's released.

It's time we got civilized. Hopefully it's one spot per customer.

whether camp or not, queuing is civilized practice. those lots spend days sacrificing their time, so they simply deserve it.

Launch Day

Last year, AFTER they announced the new iPhone 4, I ordered mine from the Apple Store, unlocked, contract free and I got it delivered free to my house on the day of launch here in the UK. So I can't see why people camp, stand on line or even want to get these Pre-order tickets! Especially as they don't even know what is coming yet!

Don't these people know that you can order online these days? Apple also sells iPhones on contract from their website too, if you want to be stuck in one of those.

FYI - I'm not going to get a new phone this year as I really don't think much will change in the iP5 and my iP4 will run iOS 5 just fine. My wife wants a new one though, as she's still on the original one!

I thought perhaps there might be an announcement later today (Apple likes a Tuesday), but I guess they'll wait until after 9/11 now. I suppose they might start sending out the invites today and hold the Press conference next week?

haha id love it if for his first launch he just presented a barely improved iPhone 4 and told us to go ******* ourselves for getting so worked up even though Apple never really said much about it at all, then flipped everyone off and left...

Legen-dairy...

you guys know that Deutsche Telekom is T-Mobile right? there the same company, just called T-Mobile in the USA.

this is very exciting considering T-Mobiles $50 Unlimited plan!

and you do know t-mobile germany has had iphone for a long time. Doesnt mean its USA counterpart will be getting it. I personally hope it does so i can switch back to t-mobile.

So hang on, are you telling me that spokesperson Herr Alexander von Schmettow DOESN'T speak for UK customers? Scheisse! Colour me surprised.

did u just get away with cursing on mr forums?

I would love to see one of these pre order slips, anyone have one to share ? I did not go back that many pages in the thread so if its here im sorry. But if its not maybe its all BS and more rumors LOL...

Some people just don't understand how this new generation thing works. They think an iPhone is an iPhone and don't understand about hardware cycles etc. Hell in the UK we still have newspaper adverts for discounted 3GS's on 2 year contracts!!!

Most people understand the cycle just fine. But unlike a "tech enthusiast" normal people buy a phone because they actually need a phone... not because it's the latest and greatest kit. If you need something today you buy what's available today.

Not really that hard to understand...

LOL at the Tech generation gap... :D

I came back to see if anyone replied to my comment, and noticed a discussion surrounding the time it takes the light from the sun to reach earth. "This didn't seriously start because of my harmless comment about knowing the sun will rise tomorrow, did it?" I thought to myself. Lo and behold, yes, it did. I think everyone that comments on a forum wants to say something so profound that it starts a discussion between multiple users, but I can honestly say that I never thought I would spark a discussion surrounding the intricacies of the speed of light, the sun, and it's distance to the earth.

Regardless, can I just say that I'm incredibly proud to have started this entire debate?

And arguing with the fact that it takes 8 minutes for the sun's light to reach Earth is so.. lame. That's like calling someone out for saying they're computer has "4 gigs" of RAM. *you clear your throat and push your glasses further up your nose* "Um technically you have 4,096 megabytes of random access memory, thereby it's incorrect to state that you have merely "4 gigs" Mm-hey"

I understand what you're getting at, and I agree with everything you said, except for the last sentence. ct2k7 said something like "if you have two 4GB sticks of RAM, your total RAM will be 16GB". I was just saying it made no sense. :D

Yep, we did everything in Planck's time. :( I guess my teacher just went a bit mental.

I'll try to dig up my notes and recall exactly what we did - we didn't actually need it for the course, it was just done for fun.
Sounds about right! You don't have to dig up your notes for me though. :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148)

I'm hoping for something nearly identical to the iPhone 4 with A5 and 64GB of storage.
I really enjoyed the size of the 4. Made it easy to use onehanded. If it gets any wider it'll become more difficult to use that way for me.

I completely agree and was just thinking about this the other day after looking at some of the iPhone 5 mockups. More often than not I use my iPhone with one hand and if it gets any wider, that will become very difficult!
