There is a PS5 controller that hooks in. A lot of cool stuff. Used with controller it’s gonna be cool. Would be nice to bring AAA games to Apple Arcade that would be great.

Would love to see some AAA games. I have a free Apple Arcade membership with Verizon and I have yet to play a single game.

I guess the point here is that your game can also run on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV so if you count them on top of the amount of Mac users maybe the user base become more relevant?

But it depends on the game I guess – if it's suitable to run on all those platforms.
That increases the cost of the game to develop exponentially. And not all games are suited for those other platforms. Some games work best on keyboard and mouse with a large screen.

Yes, I understand that. But not many games on Playstation and Xbox are played using a keyboard and mouse. :)

Talking about the computer side of gaming, the Windows user base is of course vastly larger than that on a Mac. Especially if we consider the amount of users willing to game. But I still think it’s nice that Apple is trying – seemingly more than in a long time – to get more and “bigger” games on the Mac.

And I guess there is some market for it since some AAA games are making it to the platform, such as the ones Feral Interactive offers and now also Baldur’s Gate 3, Death Stranding and Resident Evil etc.

Love to play Resident Evil and Assassin Creed in my new Pro Max. I wouldn't suggest to try it on anything less than Pro Max screen size though.

Ray Tracing: An advanced and lifelike way of rendering light and shadows in a scene.

Resident Evil 4? That was released in 2005 on a 22 year old hardware. Its literally ancient in tech. years
Resident Evil 4 is a 2023 survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is a remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4. Players control the US agent Leon S. Kennedy, who must save Ashley Graham, the daughter of the United States president, from the mysterious Los Illuminados cult. The remake has an updated plot, new visuals, characters, cast, and altered gameplay.

Nor Diablo 2: Remastered.

Elden Ring is another big one. It looks like that one is NOT available to play natively.
I got all excited when the WINE/Apple patch came out after WWDC and got it running with D4, but it's a buggy mess and you have to turn down detail significantly to get it to run well. Not even close to a mobile 3060 on my M1 Max MBP 16.

FFS Apple. The Mac is what needs to get more games, not the iPhone.

For instance, Genshin Impact is one of the most successful games in the world right now, and is on Windows and on iOS. Why the f... is it not on macOS too? That should be a no-brainer, most of the work is already done. Apple should just need a slight financial push to the developer/publisher to make it happen.

But of course, it's not happening, because Apple is as clueless as ever about games, and all that nice M-series hardware is being wasted.

I can’t wait to play FULL PRICE years old games on my apple silicon!!

Since when are these old games?
All three of the resident evil games coming to Apple silicon are last gen ports to current gen. And two of the games are $10-$20 games now on current gen. Resident evil 4 is the newest game, but is still a PS4 port to PS5 and current gen. You know apple is going to apply the apple tax. And they will not be $15 games or $20. We’re gonna see minimum $49.99 for these games.
I know it cost money to port them to apple silicon. But it doesn’t justify full price games

This is about the remake. You know the one that just came out not that long ago in 2023? Capcom remade the RE4 game in 2023 standards.

well you can't blame me when the top paid games on the App Store look like this:-

Varies by region, plus missing context.

The Sims 2 was updated to be 64 bit in 2020.
Last DLC for Civ 6 was 2022.

Currently, for Australia, Lies of P is sitting at 1 for action, and 3rd paid Mac game overall.

Whats this obsession with last gen games being bad? There are very few games current gen exclusive.

Lies of P JUST CAME OUT. RE4 Remake came out in 2023 you know. Baldur’s Gate 3 is a new game. Who cares if some new games can run on PS4

Has there been a AAA game released recently that hasn’t had IAP’s? Because AppleArecade is for non-IAP’s.
There hasn’t. But with the success of Xbox game pass I could 100% see Apple snagging first party games from publishers or having times deals for these games to come to AppleArcade.
With the next AppleTV coming. I’ve heard rumors the next Apple TV may start at $199 and have a powerful chip capable of playing newer titles.

I already use my AppleTV 4k to emulate games. I side load games.

Apple Arcade isn’t GamePass or trying to be GamePass. It’s for people that don’t want to deal with the varying costs IAP’s add to their Apple gaming experience. There are games on Apple Arcade I’ve played that are like the ones with IAP’s but progressing in the game (or just “over time”) is how you get more “currency”, not actually spending money. There’s no way for someone addicted to any Apple Arcade game to suddenly find themselves 20 or 30 dollars poorer.

Because AAA publishers MUST get their IAP’s (it’s how money is made in gaming these days), those won’t ever be on Apple Arcade. They may be in the App Store, but not on Apple Arcade. Actually, if anything GamePass is trying to be like the App Store in that IAP’s on the App Store give a cut to Apple in the same way that IAP’s over GamePass give a cut to Microsoft. :)
