Thanks for sharing that. Dexcom needs to get it together since this is possible and works. Release a Follow complication. Since I have Sugarmate setup and it's working, I'm docking Follow since they're displaying the same results, Sugarmate as a complication.

While not nearly as nice as the Dexcom G6 Compilation on the Apple Watch 7, I have been able to get the Dexcom Follow complication to work on my AW7. So I shared my G6 data with myself and am currently running the Dexcom Follow on the watch. Hopefully they get the app stable ASAP, but for those of you that do not want to install Sugarmate or NightScout, you can use it. The biggest down side is it is slightly delayed and it doesn't show the results as a number in the complication, so you have to click on it to get the values.
I'm keeping my Series 7 now :) Thanks

Sugarmate no longer works. How do you get the Follow complication? I have the app but no option to choose to use Follow for a complication in Inforgraph Modular. Thanks

I am using Sugarmate, with it displaying my blood sugar in the Modular Duo Face middle complication. It displays my blood sugar accurately and updates the complication.

Anyone still using Sugarmate with the service saying it isn't going to work in the US? I'm in the US and mine is still working on series 4, 7, and is accurate.

I might give Nightscout a try. How does it display on your complications?
Thanks in advance.
Nightscout doesn’t display on complications - you use it as the data source for Sugarmate (when the Dexcom-Sugarmate data link stops working) so you can continue using Sugarmate on your watch. There is an app called Nightguard that displays on the watch as a complication but it doesn’t update as well as Sugarmate does. So until Dexcom / Apple fixes the the Dexcom app on watch 7, I’m using Sugarmate as the workaround for Dexcom. And until Dexcom / Sugarmate work out their compatibility issues, I’m using Nightscout as the second workaround so the first workaround still works. Shouldn’t have to be so complicated, should it?

My bad, I had sugarmate working on both my series 4 and 7 and iPhone for the last couple of days, but it stopped working today. The complication was tied to Calendar- your schedule and displayed blood sugar and + - on watch face complication. I'm new to this, don't mean to make it complicated. I'm in the US BTW.

Not sure if you were replying to me but if so, I wasn’t suggesting you were making it complicated. I was lamenting how convoluted and complicated it’s been to get Dexcom data on the watch 7. Yeah, looks like Sugarmate lost Dexcom connection around 6pm EST Tuesday in the US. If you can’t get the Follow app to work on the watch (it’s only available on some of the older watch faces like Utility and Modular but only as a shortcut to open the app, it doesn’t actually display data continuously on the watch face), give Nightscout a try. There’s a helpful group on Facebook called CGM in the Cloud that will answer questions and help troubleshoot problems with setup. There’s also a paid service that will set it up and maintain it for you for a monthly fee: https://www.t1pal.com

Hopefully Sugarmate will work out their issues with Dexcom soon, but until then, Nightscout works. Good luck.

I updated both my phone and Watch to the latest betas. 15.2 beta on phone and 8.3 beta on watch. Since then the Dexcom G6 app on the watch has been working perfectly. Only been an hour or 2, but it hasn’t crashed once. This is the most it has worked since upgrading to the S7 from the S6. I’ll post an update later today.

I updated my AW7 watch to use the latest watchOS 8.3 beta last night and am having much better success with the Dexcom app. I haven't been running it for very long yet, but the numbers show up in the watch face complication and the app no longer seems to be crashing. If you depend on the Dexcom app, I highly recommend updating.

I only saw 15.1 beta so any tips on how to get to 15.2?

I’m not sure why you don’t see it. If you are part of the public beta then iOS 15.2 beta 2 should be available over the air.

oh and by the way been using it for at least 7 hours now and no issues so far. Only minor inconvenience is that every once in a while the complicatio goes to - -. I just tap it and the value is returned.

I am a very green newbie so I don't think I am a member of the public beta, but eager to learn :)

You might start by updating the watchOS to the latest beta. I'm running the regular version of 15.1 on my iPhone with the beta version of watchOS and it seems to work okay for me.

go to beta.Apple.com and follow the directions. Just remember that this is beta software and it’s not guaranteed to work 100% with everything. It may break something else you have so research it fully before installing.

I have both betas installed at the same time, so I’m not sure which one fixed it for me. I think your thought about using the Watch beta is probably the right pas to start.

I have the follow app but it's tied to someone else. How do you change it? nevermind...figured it out :)

I haven't tried the beta solution yet. I have my complication set to Dexcom G6, it displays --. I have Follow in the Dock. Tapping the complication now, will sometimes flash my current #, open the Dexcom app, or get the message to check iPhone. The complication sporadically displays my current blood sugar on the watch face.

Follow # always matches my iPhone and the Dexcom receiver. Alarms work just like always (that was my biggest concern) my blood sugar tends to drop while I'm sleeping. I was awoken by my watch around 3am with a Fall Rate.

The odd thing is Follow is the only app on watchOS I've used that doesn't get locked into orientation. I wear my watch on my right wrist w/ digital crown on left side (as set in the watch app). I can rotate the display of Follow by turning my wrist.

I'm glad this is sorta finally working.

so i understand..the complication G-6 works occasionally with the "follow"app in your favorites dock? Which watch face do you use and can I ask where the complication location is...top or bottom..let or right?

Infograph Modular - of course, it's not displaying in the complication when I took this. Follow is in Dock. Tapping the complication will sometimes flash my blood sugar, open the Dexcom G6 app, display message to check iPhone, or open Follow. A few days ago, the Dexcom G6 app would crash. It started to work like this after I did the above steps from the Reddit I posted and installing the Follow app.

I got a shot with the G6 app displaying my blood sugar in the Dock.

I had the same issue with my AP 7 and Dexcom G6 and tried out several solutions posted here:
1. Turn ipone (12 pro max) and AW off and on => no success
2. Reinstallation of Dexcom app on iphone => no success
3. usage of Dexcom follow function => no success, as this app doesn‘t offer an AW complication/app in my region
4. Sugarmate (currently out of service) and nightsout => no success, also no AW complication/app in my region
5. Registration for Beta on iPhone and AW and installation of watchOS 8.3 on AW => no standalone success

finally I noticed, that the AW obviously alway shows the „please check Dexcom app“ error, whenever my old AW5 is turned on and close to the iPhone (I didn‘t disconnect the old AW5 and connected the new AW7 as a 2nd watch.) This issue was reproducable, whenever the old watch was turned on and close, the Dexcom app (on both watches, also on the AW5, which now worked perfectly for 2 years) showed the error message. Seems like Dexcom can not judge on which AW the data shall be displayed.
When turning of the old watch, the Dexcom app on the new AW7 works, though there seems to be a 5 min delay, before data is updated on the watch sometimes, which wasn’t the case on the AW5. So this hopefully will be fixed some day.

So as a summary, the combination of these 2 measures was successful for me:
1. Registration for beta and installation of watch OS 8.3
2. bringing the old watch out of range or turning it off.

Just got my Apple Watch Series 7. I can't believe Dexcom hasn't fixed this yet. They are really going down hill fast over there.

I downloaded the follow app but now the follow app is still not showing my readings… instead it is now showing “check follow app on your iPhone”…
How are you all getting the readings on your Apple Watch series 7 with the follow app??

How do yku get the number on the follow app?? I can get the graphs but I can’t get the actual number to show up in the complication??

A couple of hours ago the Follow app suddenly stopped showing the number and is only displaying the graph. I don’t understand why this stopped working all of a sudden, it’s not like there were any software updates from Apple or Dexcom to break it.

I gave the watchOS 8.3 beta a try (iPhone is still on iOS 15.1.1) and the Dexcom G6 app and complication are working. There’s no delay between the watch, iPhone, or Dexcom receiver. It works just like it used to. I just hope it lasts.

FWIW the Follow app only shows the graph, no number. Thanks to everyone for suggesting installing the latest watchOS beta. I forgot how great it feels to have a working complication.

Dexcom G6 app and complication has been working on my Series 7 all day with no issues. BTW, Sugarmate emailed me and you can use their updated app with Dexcom again.

Dexcom should take messaging cues from Sugarmate ;)

You can once again connect your Sugarmate account to your Dexcom CGM data.

We’re sorry for the disruption and appreciate your patience.

To restore access to CGM data from Dexcom:

  1. Update the Sugarmate™ app to the latest version (2.7.1) in the App Store
