Imagine you talking to your iPad in public, then waving it around taking pictures.

Welcome to the 21st century! Computer! Activate holo-deck!!!

That's probably why the iPad appeals to me so much; I'm a Star Trek fan and it reminds me an awful lot of a PADD. Heh, I bought my first flip phone because it reminded me of a communicator.

Hmm, maybe they could fit some basic phone features into an iPod nano and we'd wear it as a TNG comm badge. :D

I don't know how many of you have tried dictation yet, but it is awesome for writing on the forums instead of typing.

Granted, some people who are in the room may or may not be annoyed with you saying everything you are typing, but it is sure as hell quicker than having to type everything with the onscreen keyboard.

And since that is very accurate, it actually makes less mistakes too. I wrote this entire post through dictation

I agree it is pretty cool. I like making new documents in pages with the voice dictation feature it's really fast and easier than typing.

The dictation feature

Just getting used to using the dictation feature and it shows a lot of promise.

I'm not sure how much I'm going to use it but if it works rather well I can see myself using it a lot more in the future so let's see what happens.

I'm definitely excited about dictation. Just said that to try it out for this thread.

Been using voice to text for a long time, and got roundly scolded when I suggested it would be great on these devices.
Using Dragon on iPhone and iPad 2 with no complaints.

I really don't like the dictation software doesn't work very well it kind of messes up once in a while and you know it'll use different words and strange stuff and it just kind awesome time so I don't know you be saying one thing and say something different and then it just turns out way differently at the fix everything it's much faster just to type it even though it is pretty impressive I still can't use it because there's too many mistakes although I think it's the best dictation software I've seen so far

I can't believe just how accurate this is, I speak with a south London accent and I think it probably suits my accent quite well, I will be using it a lot I think and as has already been said on here, it is so fast and a lot faster than typing especially in my case.:D

Yeah I really love it I've been using it since I got my iPhone back in October. But how do you spell the word comma without it making it ","?

any guess how to get the first word of the first sentence to capitlize? Saying cap does not do it either.

No problem with subsequent sentences.

Thanks

I did this with Siri after the keynote. No iPad yet...but I hate typing as I have big hands!

I figured I would go ahead and reply to this thread, because I am really impressed with how well the voice dictation works on the new iPad.

It's nice to know that I can insert punctuation with voice dictation, I did not know that before.

And as you probably guessed, I dictated this message. :D

I figured I would reply to this thread and try out the dictation in this never even thought of using it in the forums. I would say got about 90% of what I said correct.

Y'all may not know that I'm from the south. This dictation app is giving me a hard time. Dictation needs a name, can't call it Siri. I'm thinking stupid might apply. Okay, now I'm just being silly.

LOL, that was fun but it made a few mistakes in the process. :D
