Did anyone go back to Android after trying 6 Plus?

If I Google 'KitKat bugs', the number of entries is pages long. No software release is free of bugs--we see issues reported with every release of iOS and Android, especially the X.0 releases. There's a reason that KitKat is now on it's 4th minor update, and it sure isn't for new features. 🙄

Yes, Apple's release of 8.01 was a huge screw up but to their credit, they admitted the mistake, pulled the update, provided instructions on how to roll back the update, and had a new release out in a couple of days.

Out and on EVERYONES phones, which is the key here. I wish google found a way to give the carriers the middle finger. What they're doing with all their BS apps is getting insane.

People who think android is buggy simply haven't used a Nexus phone. People who think apple isn't buggy is in deep denial.

I look at it this way. apple and Android took two different paths. apple held back on features to make the OS smooth - waiting for hardware to catch up. Android went full throttle with the OS and chugged along with a bit of sluggishness until now when hardware has caught up to what we want phones to now do.

I think u summed it up right there. I tried to switch to Android couple of times in the past 2 years, with Samsung S4 and HTC One M7, the smoothness just weren't there and I went back to iPhone within weeks. Tried it again earlier this year. Went from iPhone 5s to LG G2 and haven't looked back. I actually bought a Sony Z1C to go along with the G2.

I have another line with an upgrade I HAD to use 😀 so I bought an iPhone 6. iOS 8 has a surprising amount of bugs, little things here and there, like sometimes the status bar shows in black text while using the camera. The status bar is not suppose to show at all while using the camera.

I still have the G2. I'll most likely buy the Z3 Compact when it comes out.

I did but not because I didn't like the 6 plus but just because I can't justify the price. I'm back using my nexus 5 (which feels small now). The nexus is a great phone and so is the iphone 6 plus but it's not 850$ nicer.

I have a feeling I'll be back to the 6 plus someday. But for now I'm going to stick to my nexus 5.

I love the screen, battery life and camera on the iphone over the nexus.

Went back to my OnePlus One. I can't justify the price ($900 with tax) for a phone that bends, that's delicate and also has similar specs to my OPO (which only costs $349). I used the 6+ for a few days and yes, it's fast and smooth, but my Android is also really fast and not laggy at all.

I've always been an iOS user, but I'm bored of it and I'm really enjoying Android. It has improved a lot, and I think Android L will be a huge step for Google.

What put me over the edge was my Saturday night with Siri. I was using that new “hey Siri” feature with the phone connected to power and for the first 2 times it worked fine. But after that the phone freaked out. It would sit there for a minute and then all of a sudden you see just a bunch of random words pop up at the top of the display. Phone just became unresponsive.

I very rarely use Siri I must admit and even when I do it's for a quick internet search or to ask it stupid questions for amusement. Could you not have waited a few more days to see if the patch corrected this? It does seem extreme to return such a nice phone over something so small. By the sound of it you returned it because the updates were released and you come to expect bug fixes generally follow soon after a release. Updates are pretty regular on iOS in comparison to any other mobile OS that I know of.

put google and wiki down dude. it was quite clear you were not providing first hand experiences or at least one that's within the past 3 yrs. heck, I could find issues with mountain spring water in a bottle if I search the internet.🙄 The biggest issue I had on my Note 3 with Android was the dreaded GPS issue with AT&T...and that in fact was an AT&T issue, not that from Android.

this isn't their only HUGE screw up either. Kudo's to them for allowing a rollback when they screw up. Too bad they don't allow users to roll back any other time. LOL

I wish Google and the carriers could push updates that fast. But also the IOS 8.02 also has issues as well it has killed bluetooth and erased some people icloud data.
I have been an Apple fan for a long time......
I have never seen so many security issues before. From hacked iCloud accounts to pushing out updates that cause so many other issues. Updates that brick 40K phones. I know some say 40K is not a large number compared to the overall number of iphones.......not if you are one of the 40K that was bricked. Its nice that they gave very nice directions to restore phones that were affected. But it would be nice if they took their time did more testing and QA before hand.

8.0.2 is a mess. It just froze up on my 5s when i was trying to use the hotspot feature. now my screen is black and I can't even power on the phone.

I think that celebrity iCloud "hack" is as bogus and the 6+ bend gate (oh I hate using that term as much as I hate Apple's marketing buzzwords, but it adds to the effect). They probably used weak passwords that the "hackers" were able to guess with relative ease.

Agreed! The celebs probably used their birthday or a childs birthday ...or who knows. But good security would not allow a weak password. It would require a strong alphanumeric password with a special character. It was upto Apple to make sure the software was secure with the right protocols in place.

Hold home button and power button until display comes on---may taken 15-20 seconds but has always worked the very few times I needed to force reboot or force it to power on/off.

Who the hell was asking for or providing only first hand experiences? I was replying to someone who simply was linking to forum topics and article themselves--no first hand experience there. If we were only using first hand experience, I'd have nothing bad to say about iOS 8 as I've had absolutely zero incidents--no iOS 8.01 issue, no bluetooth connectivity issues, and my iPhone 6+ is straight as a board. 😉 But I'm not nor have ever proclaimed that as I'm smart enough to realize that's not the case.

However I experienced plenty of bugs in my use of Android over the course of owning 5 Android phones and 3 Android tablets in the past 1 1/2 years (all on Jellybean and KitKat)--most notably the bluetooth keyboard connectivity issues that plagued the Note 10.1 (2014).

I'm not professing that Apple is without fault but you're just as ignorant as these other posters if you thing Android is so pristine. Again, why did Google have to put out four point updates on KitKat if it was so flawless.

Of course there are bugs/issues jamezr, there are for every new iOS release. But we also need to stop proclaiming that just because there is a forum thread documenting issues that some are having that they also pertain to everyone. I haven't experienced any of the problems--just wiped my iPad Mini to restore is for my wife and guess what, all my iCloud docs are still in place. Also, been connected to my car since iOS 8 was released with zero issues--in fact, seems more stable than ever as ever so often I'd have to manual stop and star BT to have my iPhone reconnect--not once since in past two weeks.

Yes, 8.01 was a fiasco, no doubt. Considering the guy rumored to have been responsible for QC on the update was allegedly involve in another past big issue (can't recall of the top of my head, read the article a couple days ago), I'm guess he's probably not employed by Apple any longer (or at least, I hope not). But all these other bugs are par for the course. Not making excuses, but really, this pattern is nothing new for any OS major release, regardless of platform.

The Chicken Little attitude though is getting really tiresome and overblown.

Very much. I even have to fight phandroids at the android forums. People don't realize that the operating systems are so close, it's scary. That is the point of evolution. I've went from a Vibrant to 4S to Note 3 to now 6 Plus. They have gotten very similar, it just depends now on what kind of support you want.

I'm a technology whore. I'll get a Galaxy Tab S and an iPad (I own an iPad Mini, Nexus 7 and Nook HD tablet). Plus I have a Windows 8 computer.

People need to get it together. You can have BOTH A NOTE 4 and a 6 PLUS at the same time. It's not like dividing by 0, the universe won't converge all at once

If you are experience major bugs in Android you are using Touchwiz. Try using stock or HTC Sense. Also every single OS has bugs. No matter who the company is behind it.

Do I really need to provide my first hand experiences with iOS8 updates when they are this current? Really? If you want to hear them, by all means, my son's brand new iP6 lost cell signal after the update. 11yrs old and a new iP6 that doesn't work....he got tons of crap from some buddies at school about how his new iPhone sucks. 1st world problems I know.... My iPad Air, no more link to my bluetooth in my car. Ouch! I use it for GPS directions at times...thanks Apple. Several at work no long pair with their keyboards. Now I have coworkers with issues that need resolved. There more too but need I go on?

Dude, your reply is that you found bugs if you Google Kit-Kat. Really? As I noted, how about you provide more than just web searches and captain-obvious comments about software releases.

If you're going to reply to my original statement which you did at the top of this page and try and discredit that initial reply, at least attached a little effort and substance as I requested in the way of specific Android 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 bugs vs iOS 8.0+ bugs that are out there in detail.

I never said there weren't fixes in android or that it's flawless,(feel free to show me where if you think I have) but my post was pretty clear to compare the bug of the two vs one another.

Great, I'm happy for you. With all those devices and ownership, then why would you Google anything vs just giving us your first hand experience...regardless if anyone asked for it? Pull up the updates/revisions and read them. Not hard to find. Most bug related items are miscellaneous improvements and fixes but nothing like the mess iOS 8 has been. How far back does Android have to go to have a fiasco like Apple Maps even? but hey, iOS...."it just works" right?
