The Apple Store
I was looking through the settings this morning and noticed that my AppleCare+ had not activated on my Vision Pro, so I went to go check my orders. The order that I picked up is cancelled? I realize now that I didn’t get any sort of pick up confirmation on Friday. Any idea what the course of action is for this?

Call them if you want your device properly registered to you so you can get AppleCare going. I’m assuming Apple could determine you have it if you log into your Apple ID from the device anyway but maybe it doesn’t track the device serial number when you sign in so maybe they’d never know one way or the other. That part is your call…

My question is did it get shipped to you or did you pick it up in the store? It sounded like you picked it up at a staple. If so how did you pull that off? The we’re looking for the pickup confirmation email or the saved code that comes in that email that you can save to your Apple Wallet to start the pickup process. I’m assuming they could’ve also looked it up by your order number or maybe even your Apple ID or first and last name since I had to my my ID as well.

Delete your thread, this never happened. Keep your money and hope nobody at Apple notices. You can buy AppleCare from the device iCloud settings within 60 days of purchase.

OP, if you do this, you are simply a thief. Would you be OK with that?

This happened to me last year with a delivery of two items from the apple store. The courier neglected to scan both items, so to Apple, it looked like a cancelled order for one of the items, a MacStudio. Not being like the person who recommended a life of crime for you, I reported this to Apple and paid them. Out of curiosity, I asked the rep what would have happened if I didn't report it. She told me, in no uncertain terms, that Apple accounting would have caught the error and gone after me for payment.

Be a decent human being and report this to Apple.

I picked it up from the store Friday morning. I showed them the code but thinking about it I don’t remember if they scanned it or not.

To me it looks like they somehow hadn’t properly finished the order on pickup. I get the feeling you will get a refund at somepoint soon where it looks like it hasn’t been picked up

this could lead to an issue when they do a stock check that they expect the serial numbered item to be in the store but they won’t be able to find it. They might assume it lost or stolen if that’s the case.

Did you by any chance changed the seal or bands? That canceled my original pickup however generate a 2nd receipt - king of an exchange, bit the pickup was cancelled and the Applecare contract changed.

Nope, still using original light seal and band. Doesn’t show as an exchange either

For some people, it would be tempting to let it ride — but your heart is clearly telling you otherwise. I would listen to your heart, and know that doing the right thing will be a positive example for others.

That he is still posting and thinking about it is disconcerting. He needs to remember not to complain when someone steals from him.

I think it is rather encouraging that he hears his conscience — whether he chooses to listen to it or not is his decision.

Maybe Tim Cook is randomly gifting devices in the background. :)

Enjoy!

Ignoring the ethics of the situation, let me get this straight. He should buy insurance on the stolen item from the company he stole it from. I’m not saying no.

I suspect these things are tracked somehow and that ultimately this will be traced back to you for payment and hopefully prosecution or somehow disabled and/or black listed in the same manner that the merchandise that was stolen by looters was disabled.

I suppose I wasn’t clear earlier, I am planning on speaking with the store when I have time this weekend.

I left the store Friday morning thinking I had paid for the device, and I had no clue that they made an error until I went searching.

They’ll notice they hadn’t billed you when all this madness from the launch dies down, then they will. However you should do what is right and contact them. Perhaps in the end you would be rewarded with something for honesty, you never know.

Chill out you’re being unnecessarily harsh.

Don’t wait until weekend. You can simply call the store or call Apple support.
