Because it exhibits the same characteristics as when I got it (not that I feel any particular compulsion to "back up my claim"). I can plant my thumb directly on it and not see a fingerprint. Exactly as on my much newer 4S. When it finally does show some smudging (which takes awhile), a single wipe or two makes it all go away. That qualifies as completely intact to me, and therefore it DIDN'T wear out in just a few months. Thank you.

Have you done anything to preserve this? Do you make sure you have very clean hands before use or have a special method of cleaning the screen. I'm asking by the way not to make digs or anything. I'm genuinely interested as both my 3GS and 4S oleophobic coatings wore off within months. Same as with everyone friends iPhones post 3gs that I know. Theres definately no way i still have one on my current iphone 4s anyway (Bought in february) it can't seem to get enough fingerprints! :p

Most common way of cleaning the 3GS for me was simply wiping the face across the front of whatever pullover cotton shirt I was wearing; one or two swipes was all it took. Beyond that, I kept it in a loose-fitting generic phone case that came attached to the shoulder strap of a laptop bag I bought for my company. I never carried it bare in my pocket. And the back end edges were protected with some sort of gel-case I got from the AT&T store.

For the 4S, it's in a Sena UltraSlim case specifically for that profile that got at the Apple store. http://www.senacases.com/apple/iphone-4s-cases/ultraslim/ This has a felt or other such lining that somewhat auto-wipes the phone as it goes in and out. Be advised with the Sena case, they are shipped a little small in size, so I crammed a iPod touch (2 or 3 generations ago) into it and let it sit for a day or so to stretch out the leather. After that, the iphone just slipped right on in and fits it like a glove. If anything, I guess THAT case will wear on the surfaces more than the loose-fitting laptop bag case, but so far so good.

My hands aren't greasy bc I keep them washed.

The key is to use soap that Doesn't contain oils or lotion like Dove.

I will tell you what I use - dial. No oils or grease at all. Perfect.

If your body doesn't produce oils, you may have already died. How exactly do you use an iphone once rigor mortis has set in? Let us know, thanks.

I think if you use a soap like Ivory, it would be very beneficial in eliminating the oils from your hands much more so than Dial soap. Ivory is much more purer and doesn't have the impurities in it like a soap like Dial does. I believe that Ivory would do a better job than Dial soap and Ivory is not as costly as Dial. :)

I don't even like eating anything and then touching my phone. Even it's just an apple or carrots or something simple. I still have to wipe my hands down before I touch my screen.

But some KFC sounds kind of good.

mmmmmm, chicken.

KFC and chicken are two different things, just so you know....

Okay, Ivory shill.
