Hi guys,

I recently purchased a 13" MBP and I'm sitting here looking at my hard drive capacity and it says 298 GB. It is supposed to be only a 250 GB hard drive because i only purchased the standard configuration. So my question is: Did apple give me a 320 GB hard drive by accident or do the 250 gb hard drives actually have more capacity than stated? (usually the opposite happens which leads me to believe that its actually a 320 gb drive)

Thanks:)

That is the 320GB drive. You should check to make sure you didn't pay for that model…

Sounds like someone made a mistake during assembly; it's like $10 for Apple (AKA nothing).

Be happy with it; mind you if your computer HDD dies during warranty they may replace it with a 250GB drive.

Well it did happen. Just enjoy it, someone loves you and put it in your hands. It is fate. ;)

lol thanks and i will! Actually i will probably be putting it into my ps3 if and when i ever get a ssd. but anyways wow that's awesome thanks Apple!:):):)

This reminds me of the times when you open a Kit-Kat and they have 'forgot' to put the biscuit wafer thing in.:D All that lovely chocolate :D
Sounds sad but it offen makes my day lol :)

There were reports of shortage of 250 GB discs at Applestore. It currently shows up to 7 business days shipping, while the 320 GB is only 1-3 business days.

So they may have given you a 320 GB instead. Enjoy it!

There was another thread on Macrumors at some point about happy customers who had purchases similar to yours, where they received more than they paid for. I don't remember the link, but it should be easy to find. It was a very fun thread to read.

Same thing happened to me.

Apple definitely made the mistake or did it on purpose because they didnt have any 250GB drives. Congrats...its your lucky day.

Last year when I bought a refurb Mac Pro they shipped it with 4GB of ram instead of two and a bigger hard drive.
I called apple to let them now in case something happen and I need it fixed on warranty.
They thanked me very much and updated the information on their system. That way I was covered by apple. They'll never take it back from you and it doesn't hurt to get things straighten in your favor anyway.

The warranty issue would worry me too; the OP should probably let Apple know. If their hard drive failed in the future and they opened it up to find a non-standard one they might not cover it otherwise.

Yeah just call them up. I doubt they will want the drive back. Not worth their time when the price difference is like nothing. Have them note down the difference in case you ever need service on the drive. It will probably be fine even if you dont call and just play dumb if the drive dies. So up to you.

Do the hard drives still have an Apple logo on them?
