I was reading an article on subliminal messages the other day. Most of the subliminal messages hidden in advertisements usually pertain to sex. Here is a couple examples:

Then while I was using my MacBook just now, I noticed something in my desktop background.

Look at the upper portion of the purple nebula; it looks like it spells SEX (darker regions).

Here it is with the subliminal message highlighted:

Do you guys see this? I can't help but notice it every time I look at my desktop. I found this background on InterfaceLIFT a few months ago. What do y'all think?

I think you think about sex more than a 15 year old boy.

I would of not been able to spot most of those. AND I AM A 15 YEAR OLD BOY!

Whoah you're observant! Maybe you're just out to find the word "sex" in everything, so you're seeing it in almos everything

I haven't tried finding it in anything. Which is weird, I dunno how I noticed this.

Subliminal messages aren't suppose to be recognized. Only your subconscious knows they are there.

The note one is a coincidence.
The wood chips one is a coincidence, and a pretty big stretch.
The skittles one is a coincidence, albeit humorous.
The nebula one is a coincidence, and a massive stretch.

Curves and crosses are pretty common shapes you know, they can be easily made into S, E and X.

Some say the stars in the default leopard background can spell WINDOWS VISTA SUCKS.

I think you're reading way too much into things rather then seeing subliminal messages. You had me at the dollar bill, but a jar filled with shredded paper - now that's just plain crazy.

Unrelated fact: The human mind has a tendency to see patterns and order even when it isn't actually there.

This has no relation to the conversation though....just saying.....yeah, that's it.

I do believe that marketers use subliminal advertising, however reading the OP's post I can't help but think of that scene from What About Bob (1:30): "You're the one drawing all the dirty pictures!"

The Seychelles 50-rupee banknote was a cock-up, not so much a subliminal message — I actually remember those from when I went there for holidays in the '70s… 😱

And I think since those palms were the Coco de Mer the sexualness was even greater. 😉
