Okay people with the -1 back please rotate the phone while it is on the back and see if it zero's out it does for me.......but it should not be the case.

I am going to try the 90 min DND and see if it sorts the matter out.

Yep, if I rotate it, it zeros out. Odd.

What's the difference between the black, red, and green screens?

Black = not manually calibrated, not zeroed
Red = manually calibrated (tapping the screen)
Green = zeroed

Do you have an iPhone? Open the compass app and slide it to the accelerometer app and test it yourself?

It would have taken you roughly the same amount of time to type an answer rather than act condescendingly.

Was not being condescending as I did not know the answer to his question?

Since he quoted me I replied as best as I could..

By the way.. thank you for providing the answers for him/her.

You guys realize that the only sides that would be of any use are the right side and the bottom? The left side has buttons that potrude and so does the top. Seems to me it's working fine. Find something else to better do with your time

When I came to this thread I was thinking the same thing.

Most people test on the edge of a table or something so the buttons don't affect measurements.

The most accurate measurement would be to hang the phone by a string.

or put a pan of water in the freezer and let it freeze then lay the phone on top. Be careful not to move the pan after it freezes.

0 on the sides, -1 on the back on known level surfaces. Given that I was getting anywhere between -3 and -5 before, it's a marked improvement.

Level seems to be working better but the compass is wildly erratic.. It loves to dance around +/- 40 degrees. If I let it set on the table for a few minutes away from any interference, the North reading is more accurate than 7.0.2.

only if the phone was symmetrically weighted and you put the string in the exact location.

Since I'm seeing 2 off on some sides at times and have not seen 0 at all, I called Apple support and the guy said they are still investigating. I don't know if that's BS or not as he seemed to not be aware that a fix for this went out in 7.0.3. He said Apple is still tracking calls about this.

He then said I should do the 90 minute DND thing, which I've done and if that doesn't work to do a restore to "fix my software" (again makes little sense). I guess I can do a restore and setup as new since if I get a new phone, I'm going to have to restore from backup anyway, but I really hate doing restores. Especially since I'm nearly certain it won't make a difference as other people are still off as well.

I did test it.

It was black when I laid it on a flat surface. If I picked it up held the phone like I normally did, it was still black. I tapped the screen it turned red. If I tapped it again it would turn green. And again, it turned black. Repeat. Laid down the phone on the flat surface again and it was the same thing over and over again. I mean, at the time the colors didn't mean anything because I wasn't thinking of leveling and calibrating. I was just seeing different colors. Didn't really know what to make of it at the time so I asked.

No, instead now I am at -1 on SIM card side and -1 volume side.
-1 flat on back
And 0 if I stand iphone up on the speakers/ lightning port.

No case.

One degree off, but perhaps my surface isn't perfectly level and it's hard to tell one degree on my liquid level.

You can get a more accurate reading with third party apps. I've used both iHandy Level and Clinometer to confirm that my phone is off about 0.7 degrees on it's back. On its right right side it's off around 1.2 degrees, but is off 2.3 degrees on the left side. Top and bottom are off by about 1.8.

On a surface where my iPhone 4S was perfectly level, before 7.0.3 my iPhone 5s was off by -4 or -5 degrees. Now it shows off by -1 degree when laid flat on its back (not in a case).

7.0.3 Didnt really fix mine, Still -1 off. I'm probably going to get a replacement for a different reason, ill tell you if that one works!

Wouldn't bother getting it replaced for 1 degree. For other things, sure.

Mine does that, too. -1 on its back. If I play Spin The iPhone 5s, it zeroes. I don't really care, though. :)
