Is obviously a covert move by Apple to decrease the number of store visits by cosmetic reasons. :D

You got me ;)

However, this made me think of a new scenario!

Say Apple suddenly became a company consisting of people whom might attempt to give away free scuffed iPhones to cool guys, for the very reason you gave in your post..

Would there be members of this very forum who would rather pay full price for a perfect phone? I believe there are. That be some ****ed up **** right there I tell ya.

Scuffs on such an expensive object?

I baby my iPhone, but the other day I met a guy which had his iPhone 5 in a pretty bad shape and oddly enough I found it very cool. It actually looked nice together with the fact that he couldn't care less, it's just a phone.

For me the only unacceptable situation is if it comes scratches out of the box, that's just poor quality control

First off, I don't believe what I wrote would give you any reason whatsoever to suggest me getting new friends. I'm perfectly happy with the ones I have, however quirky they might be.

Now I got a question. A philosophical one. Kinda.

We divide iPhone owners into two groups.
1) Those who really care about their iPhone, using screen protectors, back protectors, big cases, small cases, otterboxes and so on.

2) Those who are in it for the software and the premium feel of the iPhone, avoiding the cheap feel of cases and protection. And those who just don't give a damn.

Both say something about ones personality. whitch is a bad thing? Being obsessive, or being carefree?

I'm in the latter group. But I do use condoms.

I disagree with your description of the two groups.

1). Group uses cases/ screen protectors because they don't want to look at scratched screens and/or want to ensure their phone lasts as long as possible because replacing a phone that's damaged is expensive (even with insurance). I fall into this group. I don't use a case but scratches on the screen interfer with my use of my device. To me the screen is everything. I don't mind scratches or dings but I require the screen to be pristine.

My son belongs to this group too because he seems to always drop or in some way damage his phone before his contract is up. His use of a case and screen protector saves a bunch of money.

2) some people prefer the 'naked' route and have good luck with it. They prefer the feel of the phone itself and screen scratches don't bother them. They are willing to chance the need to spend money on a replacement.

It has nothing to do with 'cheap' feel. It has to do with fiscal responsibility. I fail to see why any person should hold any distain for either group. Each has their reasons that are perfectly valid to their own lifestyles.
