If you asked me about 3 years ago, I would've said that any phone over 5 inches would be too big for me...how times have change.

I was planning to wait for the iPhone 7 in september as my contract was up this December. However, with the latest rumours of no headphone part and the possibility that the price in Canada possibly includes my arm or leg (exchange rate), I decided to take the upgrade road early and go from the 6 to the 6S +. Btw, saved 100 bucks and was much cheaper than I originally budget to upgrade (about 700 incl paying the rest of my device balance of the 6 and a otter box case for the 6s+..was expecting to be close to 950 or 1000 :D)

After using the phone for a bit, all I can say is wow. 3D touch does make a big difference and I use it all the time with emails and with reeder 3. the screen is fantastic and I can see myself playing much more games and watching movies on this than what I did on the 6. The big kicker is the battery...much, much better than the 6, only lost 3% so far after downloading and listening to a podcast this morning. BTW, not a big thing but the live wallpapers are pretty cool and hope apple adds more in the future (not expecting it though).

The size does take a bit to get used to but it's actually not bad at all. Maybe losing 70-80lbs made my fingers skinny enough to handle these big phones better :p.

Overall, I'm really really happy that I took the plunge now and excited to use my phone more for movies & games.

EDIT: Another reason why I decided to upgrade now is to get in line with the "S" upgrade path.

Interesting idea getting onto the S line rather than waiting for the 7.

I can see the benefits of a more refined phone that has been honed to perfection with 1 or 2 more extra features such as 3D touch.

I had convinced myself to wait for the 7 but you have just given me the excuse I was looking for :)

OK. I went to the 6+ from the 5 in February of 2015 and then from the 6+ to the 6s+ in September 2015.

Took me all of five minutes to get used to the larger size and I won't ever go back, even though I still have my iPhone 5.

Don't know what to say to you, except…welcome to the plus model.

Thanks. I agree with you about not going back to a smaller screen size. The keyboard on the 6S+ is much easier to use than the 6. I love it.

Congrats. I keep having a hard time deciding if I'm going to wait for the 7 or take the plunge and get a 6S. We're now only about 5 months away from the 7..

:D

I have the 6s+. I'm getting the 7+ (or whatever the larger phone will be called) this year.

Not because I upgrade every year, but to get back on the numbered upgrade path. Last year was an anomaly for us (my wife and I) and we ended the year having used both the 6/6s and 6+/6s+.

Once back on track it'll be two years or so before our next upgrade.

Best iPhone Apple has made by far. The way things are looking with the 7 (I know it's early) I absolutely feel you made a great choice with what we know today. The 6s+ may be my first two year (or longer) iPhone. A large part of that is just how good the phone is; I don't find myself hoping for much outside of reduced bezels and we all but know that's not happening with the 7 anyway.

I love my 6S+! Had a moment where I wanted the SE. It's setting on my desk now. I'm going to think about it for a day or so but it's prob gong back. The large screen is addictive!

Good choice. I generally use very cheap headphones (~$10) to listen while on the treadmill. I just find bluetooth headphones to be hideously large or too expensive to replace on a frequent basis due to sweat damage. Having to recharge the headphones is also a chore I could do without.

So, I am going to hold on to the last generation phone with the aux audio jack (6S+), until throwaway bluetooth headphones come into vogue and I can move to a truly wireless audio solution.

Do we have any absolute proof that the headphone jack is going away?

I've heard a lot of hearsay and rumors, but no actual proof. I wonder if we're all panicking over nothing?

My 6S Plus is the best performing and toughest iPhone I've owned so far. I'm just probably never going to be thrilled with the hoops I go through keeping it on me as much as possible. But if the size doesn't bother you, I think you're going to be very pleased and not inclined to want to upgrade anytime soon, unless you really want the rumored dual lens camera. The iPhone me itself, aside from the camera technology, is going to serve you very well.

I hear the dual camera tech is only going to be in the 7 Plus, and since I don't want such a giant screen, I might just pick up a 6S once the 7 is released and the price goes down. Especially if the 7 lacks a headphone jack.

I'm using a 6 right now and would love to get the plus model next time around. I love my phone now but my eyes have gotten slightly worse in the past couple years so it strains my eyes a little with the small screen, have to have it closer to my face. I'm only 16 and I am already having these issues. Thanks astigmatism. Probably doesn't help that I'm a total geek so I look at screens all day. Anyway, I digress.

I think the landscape features and the better battery would be really nice. My iPhone makes it through the day typically, but if I use it any more than usual, it doesn't. Landscape features would be really cool too, I have to switch from landscape to portrait a lot with my use-case so it would be nice being able to just keep the phone in the same position. I used the plus model in stores and such and the size feels.. refreshing. Not too horrible to reach around the screen although it is a little more challenging. Don't think it will bug me much.

Not sure if I will jump on the 7 or wait for the 7S... I really don't want to lose headphone jack :(

I honesty do not have a clue why people think the 6s plus is huge. It seems normal sized to me. Maybe it's because I used to own a Galaxy Mega. I would not mind it being slightly bigger but hey I know I'm the minority for that. 5.8 inchs would be my sweet spot.

Really liking my 6s+ after coming over from a G3. No having to wait for OS updates from AT&T and zero AT&T bloatware makes the transition even sweeter!

Got my 6s plus last December and I still love it. I was concerned that the iPhone 5s would be too big when I upgraded from the 4, but I got used to it quickly. I thought the 6+ was way too big for a phone when I first saw it, but over time I realized that it made a lot of sense. Really glad I got the 6s plus and plan to keep it for a long time.

OTOH, 3d touch adds absolutely nothing for me. I find it confusing and still am not really sure what it's for. About the only thing I use it for is moving the cursor when I enter text, and that seems a bit buggy.

Get your eyes checked by a proper ophthalmologist (eye doctor). Forget this iDevice rat race and first concentrate on your eye care.

Have to agree, a few years ago I would never have been able to use a small display smartphone. Even reading glasses did not help that much.

I found a "good" eye doctor, three previous ones beforehand could not fit me properly for multi focal contacts. I bought the SE a few days ago, with even a 4" display I'm happy to report no eyestrain or headaches.

Perhaps take a break every now and then and get outside? Seriously, it took me a long time to learn this, but I go out for a walk right around noon every day, when the sun is brightest. Makes the computer screen look a lot better when you return. No doctor required. :)

I notice a lot of people mention that only the iPhone 7+ is rumored as having the dual camera feature . This does not surprise me as only the plus models of the iPhone six series has the optical image stabilization feature. Apple seems to want to add an extra feature other then simply size to the plus models.

I am also one of those people who thoroughly enjoyed the size of my iPhone 6s Plus, my old eyes really appreciate the larger size fonts that the size makes available.

I stopped at the Apple store to compare the 6s and + again in size. Still don't know whether I want to go with a larger size. Shirt pocket is a major issue. The 3.5" screen was the best for that :) The 4" screen OK. The 4.7" is already sticking up more than I really like on some shirts. I may have to come up with another way to carry if I go with the + this fall. Maybe a stronger case, and rear pocket?

Thinking the rumored better camera in the + this fall. And having a bigger change.

Going to add a quick update.

1) Playing games on the 6S + is much, much better than the 6 as the extra screen real estate makes it much easier to use the on-screen controls & view more of the gameplay.

2) Getting much better battery life as well. Playing games doesn't drain my battery as much as it has been on the 6.
