one funny thing i noticed...
i turned it off... and my phone is on the desk stand in front of me... it will not auto lock/sleep because it keeps seeing my face.. although im not looking at it...

when i turned it on ...
even im not looking at it will auto lock and sleep as per my settings(autolock 30 secs)...
I noticed the same thing! maybe its a bug because I would of thought it still uses attention awareness to know your not looking at it and would only require attention when unlocking

I have it on.
For everyone with unreliable FaceID unlocks: enter your passcode. I went ahead a few days ago and used FaceID from weird angles + entered the passcode immediately after failed attempts and now my FaceID is essentially „bulletproof“. Haven‘t had a single failed scan attempt in several days (other than the given ones where you cover up the sensor or take too long to properly align them with your face).
Your FaceID model is updated every time you enter a passcode and it detects similarities (e.g. its your face but the system isn‘t „100% sure“ so it fails).

I turned it off, because with it enabled, FaceID was inconsistent in unlocking my phone, now its much better.

Left it alone and it works just fine.
My phone stays in my pocket in my car.

I'm the one yelling at you when I see you playing with your phone in your car!!!

I disabled it at one point just to see how different it was, then I redid the face ID setup and I've left it on since then. Don't seem to mind looking at the screen to unlock it. I don't think twice about it really.

This. If it fails enter your password. It “learns” the new angle. There was an article a few days ago about this.

Did you disable Require Attention for Face ID?

If you did why?

I disabled mine because it’s annoying trying to unlock my phone when I’m driving. Not a fan of taking my eyes off the road to input my passcode.

it is better if you don't touch your phone while driving. my is on.

Disabled - because otherwise it wouldn't unlock with my sunglasses on. Now it does. Sweet!

Turned mine off as my RayBans suprisingly won’t work with attention. Every other sunglasses I’ve tried work, even other RayBans, but mine just don’t. :(
Funny you say that. I had the same exact experience and figured maybe it was because my ray bans are polarized and my cheap knock offs aren't.

I have never been able to get it to unlock either with my raybans either. Face ID also works like 60-75% of the time for me as well, think I'm going to turn it off attention until Apple makes it more reliable.

Face ID for me works almost 100% of the time. I am happy with it. I did check out setting this morning and saw the "disable attention detection" switch. After researching I guess it evidently does not require your eyes to be looking at it. I thought that this could be useful when my phone is in the car cradle and is faced towards me but I could unlock it without taking my eyes completely off the road to stare at it?

Any comments, experiences or concerns with dialing this? I am not concerned about someone unlocking my phone while I am sleeping.

Mine has been disabled since day after I got it. It does mean I don’t really have to “look” at my phone for it to work, which means I don’t even really notice it is there at all.

I disabled "attention detection" recently. I work from home and am not worried about someone taking my phone and feel like this is a "happy medium" and feel it is the right amount of protection for me.
