Hi all, as the titel says, did you? I’m on the fence getting the 16 Pro, and interested in your thoughts and reasoning if you’re coming from a Pro Max. Maybe it’s time to give the Pro a chance again with a tiny bit bigger screen and better battery time, relatively lighter too. Having the 14 PM now, and the main point to keep it is of course; it’s still a damn good phone. But… it’s a daily tool that gets used very much, so maybe time for a lighter and sleeker package. Thanks in advance for sharing!

14PM to 16Pro

Not missing the max so far

In fact it feels like a mini max taking an in between breather with 13 mini

I've just downsized from a 14 pro max to a 16 pro. Main reason for me is the weight and the size. Not that i didn't enjoy the bigger screen, but it wasn't always easy to carry around, especially in jeans.
The Pro Max had amazing battery life, and i haven't used the 16 pro enough to get a feel of it's battery. So that's my only worry a the moment, but as long as it can easily make it through the day i'm happy :)

How's downgrading the size of the screen? 16 PM is too big and heavy for me.

First impressions: the size and weight is definitely felling very nice, kind of a relief coming from the 14 PM. Think the relatively small dim and screen size increase is very close to optimal, now I just have to use it for a little while to see exactly how I feel about it. The 14 PM was my first max and I tried it for 2 years, not for me I think. But the battery time… have I been too spoilt with the max…? IMG_0376.jpegIMG_0378.jpeg
Edit: typos

Gone from 14 pro max to 16 pro and the only time I notice the smaller screen is when I go back to the 14 pro max. And even then not a big deal for me. Getting used to the smaller screen was easy and immediate.
I’ve got big hands and my eyes are failing me with age but I’m glad I went the pro this time. I got over carrying the pro max in my pocket. The 14pm weight didn’t help

I did after carrying the 14 pro max for the last two years. I can deal with the battery, but had to increase the text size due to these aging 48 year old eyes. I don't miss the weight of what I had, and largely don't miss the pro max screen size. Traveling soon for work, so we'll see.

I did increase text size too 😂😂 the lightness is very welcome. Don’t know if I can handle the smaller battery yet though… had 90% this morning (charge limit for the moment) full Sunday out at an autumn market, using it as usual with camera, waze, phone, safari, wallet/pay, news etc etc, with 16% coming home 😬

14 PM would have been 50% (from 100%).

Well well, I’ll see in 1w when everything settles down.

Regarding battery life - which for many is the biggest sacrifice in downsizing - I have been getting 6-8hrs SOT in my daily use. Pretty happy with it, coming from a 15 Pro Max.

For the <5% of time that I am on the go all day, it charges fast enough for a quick top up and even a small battery pack like the Anker Nano is super convenient for heavy on-the-go use. The 5g modem feels more efficient especially for streaming video.

For >95% of the time I have an M4 iPad Pro with OLED that beats the Max for longer duration content consumption. I find the iPhone Pro being relegated to light browsing, taking a few photos on the go and app-based light tasks, and it appears to have plenty of juice for that kind of usage.

That said, I don’t know much of a battery hit Apple Intelligence will be for the on-device tasks that will require heavy processing power but I’m willing to take that chance this year.

Can anyone here with the Pro comment on whether there is a slight noise coming from your volume and lock buttons? Try putting your finger on one of the buttons at a time and try moving it around a little bit and see if there is a noise. I've noticed that mine has a bit of a noise whereas my 15 PM does not.

No noise on mine

I’m conflicted about the change from the Max to the regular Pro.

The size is better for shorts and pants, and I keep the phone with me more at home for playing podcasts and music. (I used to try play them from the watch, which is hit or miss.) I can also fit the Pro in the back pocket of my running shorts, which is helpful for long runs and races.

But typing and reading text is harder. Not all of the apps I use support dynamic type, which was surprising.

I’m 50/50 about swapping it out for a Max, but will give it another week.

On a positive note, I tend to hand down phones in the family when I want to upgrade and no one wanted the Max! Getting a taker in this family for a regular size Pro in a year or two will be an easier sell 😁

Came from the iPhone 15 PM to the 16 Pro and the screen size feels perfect. Will have to see how the battery life is tomorrow, but the size alone makes it worth it for me at least. Will have to replace it as there's some noise issue with the buttons, but other than that all good.

I initially bought a 16P coming from a 15PM.
The size felt great, didn’t miss the screen real estate too much.

Had the phone for over a week and battery life was consistently worse than my previous phone. Also had overheating issues, where the phone would get pretty warm to the touch at random.

Picked up a 16PM and seeing none of these issues. Any ideas? It can’t be linked to indexing…
