I decided this year i am going to fully protect my device, I went for the AppleCare+ Theft and Loss. £11.99 a month for peace of mind 🙌. Anybody else? Reason I have gone monthly is because it will be easier to cancel next year for the iPhone 14

Ya always gotta be bucking the system PJ. :p Good to see ya.
How ya doing? I saw you picked up the 13 Mini. I up-sized to the 13 Pro. Getting use to the bigger size and weight. I think it's big but all the Max users in my circle say it's too small. LOL.

On topic, not bucking the system, I have only cracked one screen in 14 years of iPhone use. 14 years of AppleCare+ would be a crap-ton of money compared to that iPhone 6 $100 screen replacement.

Doing well here, thanks. Been pretty busy lately. You have an excellent 14 year record. I have an unblemished record. I get AC+ on occasion even though I can afford to go out and buy another. The ability to contact Apple 24/7 as well as being able to have an iPhone expressed shipped to me is a plus. This year, I some of my trade-in credit to get AC+ on the new mini and got a years refund on the 12 mini cost.

Did you trade in your mini or did you give it to your wife?

Yes. With the IUP program in the USA moving up to + is only around $3 more a month if I remember correctly.

I didnt at purchase, but having got the phone and feeling the weight, I suspect it could damage more easily - seriously considering it for the first time

It's $329 for a screen replacement on a max now, the pro is $279. I'm tempted to get Apple care, but I also have been pretty good with my phones. 10+ years and I've never used Applecare, even though I paid for it. Even paying my 2 lines at $10/month with the $29 service fee over a year, it's not that much more just to have the screen replaced out of pocket. I think this year I will go without Applecare.

I know what you're saying. My point being, I'm pretty careful with my phone. The odds of me using AppleCare+ are pretty small. Even if I have to shell out $550 for an out of warranty replacement, I am way, way ahead of the game at this point. It would be a big bummer, but I really couldn't be mad.

Yes, i always do because next year when I sell my phone it’s a great feature for a phone that’s a year old to still be under warranty. So I always buy the AppleCare plus for that reason it adds more value to the resale of my phone because people always want extended warranty and plus I have protection for it

Well the good thing is is if you buy it on your Apple Card you get 3% off on it. It’s better than nothing. Or if you have a credit card that gives you more cash back it does reduce the cost in the end

Oh I completely agree with you. I have 2 lines and I've been adding up the math, 10+ years and I have never made a claim, that's a lot of money I wasted. In hindsight I should have just put that money into an account every month, or heck just invested it into Apple stock.

No my iPhone 12pro max going back to Apple for $790 its not even one years old so the same will be with the iPhone pro max 13 next year

I didn’t.

I think I’ll just trade-in / upgrade yearly for around $300. That way you get the latest tech, fresh new battery, and are always under a regular 12-month warranty.

I’m not too worried about breaking the screen during the regular warranty period, but if I was going to keep a phone long term I would probably just get the monthly AppleCare+ near the end of 12-months.

Not yet but, for the first time with an iPhone (got it on my Series 5 Titanium watch)I will. I’m thinking that I may as well wait - I’m covered by my AMEX Gold card for 90 days so, I’ll likely add it in 59 days time. Yes, I could afford a replacement however, I’d rather pay for the peace of mind.
