Returned a Quad core

My first Mac was a Mac Pro Quadcore and the hard drive failed within two weeks or so. My friend encouraged me to buy it because it was expandable. I found it to be way too large for my needs. Apple took it back and credited my account. I purchased a new 24" white iMac and I love, love, love it!

Oz

24" iMac, 8g iPhone, 15" refurb mbp 2.16Gz

I probably should return my refurb 20" iMac as the superdrive has given up and just spits out disks - after one week of ownership
(Seems to be a known issue with the mashita superdrives judging by these forums)

However - the screen is perfect and has a bigger than ordered HD installed - also have it set up just right for me, so am happy to use an external DVD burner which I already had.

But yes I probably should return it

They will not downgrade you in any way

I had a TiBook that was a lemon. Had to go in for major repairs about 5 or so times for screen/power/drive issues. On the day before my extended care plan expired, it went out again. After dealing with tech support and consumer service for most of the day, Apple apologized for the problems I had dealt with and gave me a brand new powerbook G-4 that had just rolled out of the new line up. This was old Apple, though.

Had hardware failures and build quality issues with my first MacBook. Second MacBook has had no hardware failures, just build quality issues.

first mac i bought was a ibook g4, broke within a few hours and apple had to replace it. 3rd mac the one i have now broke within a day also and they had to replace. Still wont stop me from loving macs

I had to return my mini because my house was struck by lightning and it fried the ethernet port, but that was kinda my fault for having it on during a hurricane. Applecare covered it tho :D had it back from the apple store in 3 days

I got a mac mini g4 and returned it for a refund when it displayed a dim picture on my monitor, which was a huge problem that happened to all people with high end CRT displays that Apple simply ignored until the intel mini's came out.

had to return mine!

Had to return my first macbook pro cos the disc drive would not except any discs, now the replacement has a dead/stuck pixel prob & apple say they wnt help me out! Disgusted, as this is my first experience with apple computers, its not given me a good first impresion of them at all!

Returned IMac

New to Mac, Bought a Imac 24" three weeks ago after 1 1/2 weeks it quit returned and they gave me a new one in exchange. So far so Good

Never had a problem with any of my macs.

Closest thing to it would be my current MacBook. First thing, turned it on, and the column of keys "wsx" wouldnt work for some reason. I tried restarting, taking the battery out, everything and they wouldnt work. I got to the apple store and suddenly they worked! The girl from the genius bar said 'sometimes they just like to come back for a visit!' and i guess she was right. :)

over all- rock solid hardware, and sexy too

  1. My first iBook was great. Had it for 2 years before I bought a MB.
  2. I bought a MB and had to return it due to a faulty soundcard
  3. The replacement MB also had a faulty soundcard
  4. I decided to upgrade to a MBP but it had awful yellowing in the screen. (After 2 MBs and one MBP I decided to stick with my iBook)
  5. I bought a 24" white iMac shortly before they were updated - THIS WAS PERFECT
  6. I bought a MBP again but this time the screen was mint - apart from a bright white dot that has shown up recently
  7. I loved the look of the new iMacs and I sold my white for the alu version. Regretted this mostly due to artefacts between the glass panel and screen. I've had 3 of these babies and in the end I had to buy a suction lifter to clean the dust and debris from underneath the screen myself.

Although, 6 of the 9 machines I've purchased have been problematic (I say 6 because even the iMac I'm now using had dust and debris under the glass panel before I cleaned it up) Apple's customer service has always been top-notch.

just to redress the balance of this thread

Yes - my MacPro had to go back twice! Problems waking from sleep when it arrived, so not quite DOA, went to an authorised Dealer to be repaired where it languished for three weeks whilst they waited for a part (something to do with graphics board, apparently) until I finally got fed up and demanded that Apple ship me a new unit - which, this time, was Dead on Arrival! So, that had to go back. It was over five weeks from first delivery until I got my working machine, and a good three or four hours on the phone to Apple Support.
This was after several happy years of no problems using Macs, from my original bondi blue iMac (the most happy computer experience of my life, so far), through a faultless G4 tower, and the slight glitch that was the G4 ibook with the faulty battery that had to be recalled (not really Apple's fault).

Everyone I spoke to was nice and helpful - excepting the fact that I was essentially misled about the time frame of my initial repair, and not properly kept informed by the Authorised Dealership - and I'm generally a happy Mac camper once again, but the whole experience made me wary of casually recommending Macs to anyone who asks now that I know even Apple are capable of a less than satisfactory service now and again.

i haven't had any problems with the two macs i have bought, and hopefully it will stay like that

20 personal Macs since 1987... never had a problem with any.

20+ business Macs since 1996, had one Xserve G4 that needed on-site service shortly after setup.

Wow. I get to post again in the same thread. Just got a new MacBook Pro (refurb) and right out of the box, problems. It was plugged in for ten minutes, sitting there unattended, and went over to it to turn it on I touched it and instantly drew my hand back because it had heated up to something akin to a potato right out of the oven. Not to mention the smell of burnt plastic. Apple put it DOA and we're expecting a replacement in the next few days. I just have bad luck with Macs, it seems.

Yes, I had a horrible dent on the left speaker grill when I got my penryn MBP and they gladly exchanged it for me. It was about a day after I got it.
Fortunately, I haven't had any troubles since.
