I use to jail break, until I got my iTunes account hacked. I know it's fun, but it opens up security holes.

Your account didn't get hacked because you did a jailbreak. The only thing a jailbreak could do to make your iPhone less secure (and this is if you're not installing shady things from shady places) is install ssh, but then the chances of you getting hacked are quite slim still.

Back when I had my iPad 2, it was jailbroken. I plan to jailbreak my current iPad 3 (that's what I'm calling it, deal with it) once a public jailbreak is released. I don't download much from Cydia except a few small things like f.lux, ShowCase, and SBsettings. Maybe Multifl0w if I get bored since it looks cool on the iPad screen and matches the expose/spaces feature on my MBP.

Thats not the point. The point is he has no idea what he is missing, so he is clueless.

100 Reasons to Jailbreak[2012]:

That is all.

You are right that is all! If a person has never jailbroken then they don't miss what they never had, does not mean they are clueless that is just dumb thinking on your part. I use to jailbreak, but see very little value in doing so today. I don't need some idiotic youtube video telling me what I am missing. The iPad works just fine the way it is for the manner in which I use it. If you feel a need to jailbreak then go for it. Not everyone else does! I don't get why some of you folks feel like its your way or the highway. It's not!

I'm jail broken for simple hacks like scrollingboard. Is there an app store equivalent?

The bold part is all that should matter to you. I guess the response is just typical internet forum junk. It's like the guys with bad screens insisting that those who have good screens really don't but rather just don't know what to look for.

Actually, his point is very valid. If his iPad functions in such a way as to fulfill all his/her needs for it without jailbreaking, then he/she doesn't need to jailbreak. Likewise, if you want the extra functionality a jailbreak entails, then go for it. Both sides can co-exist peacefully.

If I ever do Jailbreak, I will never download cracked free apps. I'm trying to support the indie developer community for iOS, not turn them away. They deserve my money if I like their app.

I download cracked apps sometimes but never to simply pirate. Basically to try them out. If they suck (most due), I delete them. If they don't, I buy them. I even pay for cydia tweaks. If devs aren't making enough money, they'll do something else instead. I do wait for apps to go in sale at times, such as right now waiting for World of Goo to go on sale. So much easier to buy and sync across all my idevices.

I believe the main reason is that they are too worried that Apple may come knocking on their door because they do whatever Apple approves of or not approves of, hence the term, Apple fanboy. They fear the possibility of the slightest chance that something may or could go wrong on their iDevices that they actually believe jailbreaking could void their warranty (when that is not the case at all, just restore and you're back to normal) just because Apple "says so".

I believe those are the main, if not, only reasons. The positives outweigh the negatives. And I don't see why anybody would not want to do it if the opportunity presents itself. Everything else points to they are totally clueless what they are missing out on to even care, so they cover it up by saying they are satisfied with the iDevice as is.

I would immediately jailbreak the new iPad again because I miss MyWi and some others like 5 row keyboard.

On the other hand I hope that the new architecture is so bullet proof that it cannot be jailbroken because I use the new iPad more and more in the enterprise, handling sensitive data. I feel more secure if there is no way to jailbreak, so there is no way to compromise the system and my data.

A) to recover the data off the flash after a complete wipe/rewrite, apple would have to inspect the flash at the microscopic level.

B) in the case of incomplete rewrites, going through gigs and gigs of raw binary to look for a tiny morsel of data indicating a jailbreak would take more time than what the device is worth
Y
C) I don't think restores are logged, and even if they were, the filename means nothing. I could rename any ipsw to anything I want. Doesn't mean I jailbroke. These days most jailbreaks don't involve custom firmwares anyway since we don't have a boot rom exploit. And with one, it'd probably be trivial to wipe such a log if it existed.

Yes like I said it would be to much work for them to go through to see if you had done it. And I said I ddnt think apple would ever do it. That being said back in the day it was much easier for them to see it because to jailbreak you did have to instal a custom boot but now you don't have to install a custom boot so it's not really an issue. Any way even if they found out that you did they could refuse your serves. But still it's legal so it's what ever and I go back to my first point if you are jailbreaking you would probably know how to fix what ever goes wrong and if you didn't then why would you jailbreak just saying.
