sorry to hear ^^

keep em coming guys. I really want to purchase my iphone now, but still wondering if I should wait a little.

It all depends on how OCD you are.

My friend at work AND my wife both think their phones are flawless. I looked at both sans case and there were tiny marks on both phones. Keep in mind, they were tiny, hard to see, and DON'T MATTER to the non-OCD crowd (and good for them... life is so much better when you aren't literally obsessed with the material perfection of a mass produced phone).

There is probably a "flaw" on every iPhone. If you look hard enough, you WILL find one.

It's up to you how crazy you go because of it.

Good post, although some have reported some big dents and very noticeable chips on the bezel. This has been addressed as an issue with Foxconn, so I'm hoping it gets sorted out and they up their quality control.

This thread is for the people who just got their iPhone 5 (within the past week or 2). I am waiting to pull the trigger on buying it, but want to see if the new phones have solved the chipping/scratching issues. So if you just recently got your iphone, any chips on the bezel? scratches on the back? was this out of box? how's the wear after using it since you got it?

Thanks!

There is no "chipping/scratching issues". It's a device like any other, it will have wear and tear from use. It amazes me that people want to treat their phones like it's a crystal statue worth $10,000. It's a phone. You use it. It will show wear from use.

I bought my son a black Verizon 16gb at Wal-Mart on October 7th - It was opened to activate and promptly placed back into its box - I really only heard about the scuffs and dents afterwards when I noted to the board that WalMart only charged 189 and no extra tax (In CA, you usually get taxed on the unsubsidized price - another $40 or so) - I did take a closer look after that and was content that it was flawless - no dents, nicks or scuffs - although I didn't peel off the protective plastic. That was done on Monday of this week - on his birthday the 15th - I was glad to note that is still remained flawless - absolutely perfect black finish.

Now I promptly placed it is a case and put a screen protector on it for him. Now I get to sell his iPod touch (or maybe keep it to mess with as he wants nothing to do with it anymore)

There is one thing I am on the fence about - I think I am going to spring the $94 for a square-trade warranty - He has to live with this for almost 2 years (20 months with Verizon) and I worry he could drop it - although he had his Touch for that long and it is in perfect shape....

decisions.... decisions

it's flawless in every way.

I got mine last week in black. It was flawless out of the box. I just took off the case today and saw couple of spots on the shiny edge became dull, inside a case. It's not a scratch so I can't see silver. There is no way to keep this phone looking its best for long. If I keep this phone, I'm going to use it naked and put AC+ on it.

Yes, there is. I picked up my 16 GB last night from an Apple store and it came out of the box with chips and scratches. There is an issue.

It will show wear from use. But people are having legitimate issues out of the box before any use has occurred.
