As the list grows I will add to it.

Fox announced that it's cancelling five of its live action shows: 'Human Target,' Lie to Me,' 'The Chicago Code,' 'Traffic Light' and 'Breaking In.' It also dropped the ax on some of its drama pilots, including the much talked-about 'Locke & Key' and 'Exit Strategy.'

I liked The Chicago Code and am shocked it wasn't picked up for a full season.

Human Target was good too.

Aaaaargh! Obviously they HAVE to cancel the shows with even a modicum of intelligence:mad::( Hubby and I love Traffic Light....the writing, the humor is so subtle, the little nuances about relationships that they hit spot on.... How sad. Chicago Code is also so well written......wow, I am just blown away. They'll probably replace them by some inane, brainless "Reality" show that costs 40% less to produce, and bears no resemblance whatsoever to actual reality.

NBC is said to have renewed Parenthood and Harry's Law. And most likely Chuck.
NBC has picked up Prime Suspect, the U.S. adaptation of the British miniseries to series. NBC has also picked up Steven Spielberg musical drama Smash, starring Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston to series.

NBC also picked up two sitcoms. Whitney, starring comedienne Whitney Cummings, and Up All Night starring Christina Applegate.

Chicago code was pretty solid, I hadn't kept up with it recently but I liked the layers of building intrigue in the first few episodes.

What about Outsourced and **** My Dad Says? Are those coming back? I think I'm the only one who liked **** My Dad Says, so I don't know if I should expect it back, but I think Outsourced did pretty well.

You are not the only one... I loved '$h*! My Dad Says' and I hope it comes back :D

As for OP about 'Lie to Me' being cancelled... WTF Fox? you seem to like cancelling decent shows don't you

Murdoch you are an arse.

Dang.. this sucks!!

Traffic Light was an awesome show! I wonder if another network could pick it up? It's got some great stuff on there.

The major announcements start on Sunday when the networks start their upfronts.

CBS has renewed Rules of Engagement. Chuck is officially returning according to NBC.

In other news.
NBC executives have decided to pass on taking David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman remake pilot to series, effectively squashing what could have been Adrianne Palicki's breakout role as the superhero warrior.
Kelley's modern take on the Amazonian princess Diana Prince had her running a major corporation by day and kicking butts in the streets of Los Angeles by night. Palicki's nemesis, the jealous CEO of a rival company, would have been played by Elizabeth Hurley.

Publicity trouble struck the Wonder Woman pilot production early on when photos of Palicki in the new costume were released online. People were taken aback by the lack of patriotism and "cheap" material, not to mention the long pants and boots that blended into them. Alterations were made to the outfit when on-set footage and images leaked online, but by then the damage had already been done.

Word is that test screenings of the Wonder Woman pilot were received with mixed to negative reviews. If NBC passed on Wonder Woman, odds aren't favorable another will step in and gamble on it. Though Wonder Woman seems like it would be a better fit for Syfy were growing female audiences attracted by shows like Warehouse 13 might latch onto the idea of two powerful women battling one another.

NBC also left behind the hairstylist drama Mann's World, Ron Moore's magic-infused cop drama that reunited several Battlestar Galactica alumni 17th Precinct, and the Civil War-era Reconstruction.

Aaaaand Chicago Code is the latest reason (after Firefly, Studio 60, and others...) why I don't get invested in a new series until after season 2. These studios don't know a damn thing about what they are doing...

WTF, Bob's Burgers got renewed? Fox still owes me 30 minutes of my life back for watching that garbage.
Ya I could not watch more than 5 minutes of the pilot. How they keep that show and cancel some of the other stuff doesn't make sense. They must not have anything better to put on Sunday night.

How I Met Your Mother was renewed, which doesn't surprise me, but personally I don't find it funny AT ALL. I actually feel embarrassed for Neil Patrick Harris as he was a lot better in Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long-Blog and that was web only.

I try to get into HIMYM but the comedy seems forced and childish.

It's definitely starting to lose steam (don't most comedies after 6 years?). But this is one of my favorite shows of all time. Lately, the comedy is a little more predictable, but in some of the original seasons, I thought a lot of it was quite brilliant. It might help that I really relate to the characters a bit. Of course, I don't watch any of the shows you listed above, so we just have different tastes.

Fall and Mid-Season Lineups Feature New Dramas “Smash,” “Prime Suspect,” “The Playboy Club,” “Awake,” “Grimm” and “The Firm”

New Comedies Are “Up All Night,” “Whitney,” “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea,” “Free Agents,” “Best Friends Forever” and “Bent”

NEW YORK CITY — May 15, 2011 — NBC has introduced its 2011-12 primetime schedule, showcasing six new dramas and six new comedies from a roster of renowned hit-makers that includes Steven Spielberg, Lorne Michaels, Brian Grazer, Tom Werner, John Grisham and Peter Berg, among many others.

The season’s new dramas are “Smash,” “Prime Suspect,” “The Playboy Club,” “Awake,” “Grimm” and “The Firm”; and the new comedies are “Up All Night,” “Whitney,” “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea,” “Free Agents,” “Best Friends Forever” and “Bent.”

Returning shows include “Parenthood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Harry’s Law,” “Chuck” (for its fifth and final season of 13 episodes), “Community,” “Parks and Recreation,” “The Office,” “30 Rock” and “Dateline NBC.” Among next season’s returning alternative series are “The Voice,” “The Sing-Off,” “The Celebrity Apprentice” and “The Biggest Loser,” each in two-hour formats.

The new lineup combines schedule stability with strategic changes that position the network for future growth. Key facets of the schedule include a new hour of comedy with the Wednesday debuts of “Up All Night” (8-8:30 p.m. ET) and “Free Agents” (8:30-9 p.m. ET) and an update to NBC’s critically acclaimed Thursday lineup with the premieres this fall of the new comedy “Whitney” (9:30-10 p.m. ET) and the first-year drama “Prime Suspect” (10-11 p.m. ET). In addition, NBC has made a strong commitment to original scripted programming on Friday nights with the pairing of “Chuck” (8-9 p.m. ET) in its climactic season with the new drama “Grimm” (9-10 p.m. ET).

The #1 new series of the current season, “The Voice,” returns at mid-season on Monday nights (8-10 p.m. ET) and will serve as the lead-in to the new musical drama “Smash” (10-11 p.m. ET). In the fall on Mondays from 8-10 p.m. ET will be another growing NBC reality success, “The Sing-Off,” now in a weekly format following its strong December showings of the past two years.

Additional details unveiled in today’s announcement include a run of uninterrupted originals for “30 Rock” starting at mid-season and a post-football Sunday lineup of “Dateline NBC” (7-8 p.m. ET), “The Celebrity Apprentice” (8-10 p.m. ET) and the new drama “The Firm” (10-11 p.m. ET). Additional new series ready for mid-season include the drama “Awake” and the comedies “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea,” “Best Friends Forever” and “Bent.”

The announcements were made by Bob Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment.

“Next season begins the rebuilding of the NBC primetime schedule, and our goal is to reinvigorate our audience with a line-up of appointment television that includes our best returning shows and a variety of innovative and attention-getting new series. We’ll be placing a great deal of emphasis on how we launch each one of our programs and on maximizing the network’s strengths throughout the fall and well into mid-season,” said Greenblatt. “Considering it’s only been three months since new management took over, I’m very pleased with what has resulted from a very strong pilot season. And with a powerful new asset like ‘The Voice’ already in hand, we go into the 2011-12 season with cautious but incredible optimism.”
