My iP4 is still just as fast as the day I got it. I haven't closed any Apps., and I don't turn it off very often.
 
I just removed a lot of pictures rather than syncing all my photos from my computer and deleted pretty much all my texts but one small conversation. It still doesn't seem to have the same smoothness it did when I first got it. But I still don't want to update to 4.0.1 so I won't restore. I guess my only option is to wait for 4.1?
 
I never understood why people continue to suggest this. For me it has made zero difference in speed or battery performance leaving them there. I currently have 49 apps in the app switcher bar.

For me, I was having performance issues and the Genuis hooked it up to the diagnostic program and it said I was low on application memory. Now that I close them daily it doesn't stutter and the Angry Birds fly smoothly on their death missions. It is the Genius' recommendation.
