At more-or-less the same time of day, after ensuring all apps are up-to-date, I am getting differing step counts and distances in different apps on my iPhone. I wonder why, and what is correct? I'm trying different apps, which is why I have so many at the moment.

Some are probably reading from the watch, others the phone, and the rest are using both and trying to combine them without duplicating them.

If you put the phone down and walk with the watch, and then pick up the phone and walk with both, you don't want the former counting one step and the latter counting two steps.

Seems reasonable, but I thought, and I am not an iOS developer, so I am only going by what I read, that the Health Kit prioritizes sources for when there is more than one. Does that not mean that when an app asks for steps, Health Kit provides the steps based on this priority?

However, having said that, I did have to remove a workout app as a source because it looked like it was screwing up my calories.
