I love my AirPods Pro! I use them all the time

The noise cancellation works great - hopefully it can be improved even more in the 2nd gen version

If Apple does release the 2nd gen in the 2nd half of 2021 I will definitely upgrade and give my 1st gen to my dad
Same here, that’s the one apple product that I use more than anything, have them most of the time in combination with whatever else I’m using be it the Mac, iPad, phone, Apple TV, etc.
Even got a battery depleted on a jogging afternoon... and just left them for the noise cancelling (and the transparency too at times).

Can’t wait for the update with iOS 14 in the fall with auto switching and 3D audio it will need a firmware upgrade
Auto switching would be a welcome addition! Would get rid of that “Switch To AirPods Pro” Siri Shortcut on the homepage, although it isn’t a bother.
Curious how it works though, if I’m on my desk making games testing on the phone, a Mac and an iPadPro with sidecar, which one will it get?

i prefer my first generation AirPods too. I love how I cannot even tell I am wearing them. It’s like the music comes out of thin air and I prefer the bass compared to my AirPod Pro.

The only thing I like more is the ANC but that’s it.

i actually assumed in-ear would mean that they would stay better IN my ears, especially since they provide 3 different sizes but nope I have the constant feeling of them almost falling out and I have to push them back in. The original AirPod fit me better (tho I also dropped them a few times)
What are the issues people are mentioning? Do they sound really that worse?
I ask because I went directly to the Pro version just because of the silicon tips honestly, the plastic-only tips like the EarPods have never worked for me. Luckily they do feel just as you say, like thin air is throwing music at them and sometimes I forget I have them or not, however I have no comparison point regarding fit and sound since I never tried the v1 or v2 AirPods.

4-5 hrs of battery life will not cut it for me, my Beats X (which I love) can easily get 8, hardly feels like enough.
I can wholeheartedly agree to this. The beats X were amazing, for everyday use, sport, etc. mine started dying (all my beats die in the same way, can’t handle sweat and one side stops playing sound and/or stop charging)

I’m enjoying the AirpodsPro a lot, however yeah, 4.5hrs is tight, I use the charging time to take welcomed break during the work day, and the case is super convenient, slap them in, go take a coffee, walk, etc. they charge very very fast. However, in 2 years when it’s a lot less than those 4.5 hours? That will be troublesome.

wow, i love this thread. for the first time airpods pro users are sharing their real feelings about the product. in every article that talks about both regular and the pro airpods, airpods pro users trash the regular airpods and say how amazing their pro's are)

Probably just the usual behavior regarding rationalizing the choice made being as “the right one”.
Most people either choose one or the other, except specific cases, and wouldn’t really know about the other one fully.

Me, I assumed that the normal ones wouldn’t be as ear fitting, as I couldn’t with the all plastic tip EarPods from before, never even tried them and went directly Pro ones. Completely based on pre-assumptions.

Seems like the rumor mill is missing something. Most of those health features they rumored are already covered by Apple Watch. I imagine the goal would be creating new value-add features rather than duplicating existing products.

Exactly my situation as well. I'm sticking with the original for as long as I can. The in-ear just don't fit me no matter what plugs I use. I wish they did, but no.

i've been using the regular for over three years now. when my original pair stopped holding enough charge to not annoy me, i bought the second gen. i considered the pro's, but honestly i found them to be dreadfully ugly. also i hate the plastic tips - still remember how awful the old wired apple in-ear headphones were(for me). not planning on going though that again, at least not willingly. and lastly, while on the original airpods i tap on them to skip track etc, on the pros it is my understanding that you have to squeeze. that would irritate the crap out of me, being used to a simple tap.

of course i understand that for those people, who's ear shape doesn't work well with the original airpods, the pros might be a good solution...

You could have considered foam ear tips from Comply or Dekoni. They made a huge difference for me!

There's aftermarket tips for Airpods Pro? I have a pair sitting idle because I can't get a seal in one ear and it makes the sound disturbingly lopsided...

They’re defective, and the issue is well known to Apple; they’re happy to replace them. You were unlucky to get two bad units 🙁

They are all bad units. I've done 4 exchanges already. I jog with mine every day. Within a few weeks of use, the noise cancellation microphone starts to come loose and it jiggles every time you step, which produces an audible click. One of mine was clicking just from the pressure change of slightly opening/closing my jaw.

News summary:

AirPods Pro are a “buy now” at MacRumors, but a new version might be available in one year or so.

Hopefully they will have fixed the noise cancellation clicking problem by then. I've swapped out a bad AirPod 4 times already.

Same here! I simply will not be buying a new pair of these ever again and will trend towards the sport beats.

The slightest of debris in the noise cancellation microphone will cause the rattling. It’s impossible to clean out as the debris tens to be microscopic.

If you turn off the ANC and transparency the crackling will go away completely. But that really sucks as these are the features users are paying for. If Apple wanted to do right they’d stop selling these and replace original owners with redesigned buds.

I personally use the tips from Comply, but I've heard other people say they've had success with the Dekoni brand too. I think they're a godsend for those of us who have the Apple tips fall out of our head. Not sure about the sound quality because everyone's perception is different, but I enjoy them for what they are!

I have Airpod Pros and while I do like them the only way I would buy a new pair is if they improve both the sound quality and loudness. Its sad when I plug in my pair of $30 Sony wired earbuds into my iphone 11 and they sound much better and get way louder (listening to music).

Thanks, just ordered a set. We'll see how they do.

I don't have a problem with them falling out, or I don't think I would if I used them more than I do, but I just can't get a good seal in one ear regardless of the tip I use. Don't know why I didn't just do a search for 3rd party tips before-- there's quite a selection.

No, thanks.

It's just a earphone. we don't need health sensors. We already have apple watch for this. It will destroy battery life. I'd rather have more hours of battery than no-sense sensors. It is irrelevant for me to know how many steps I take per day.

Unless the ear is perfectly suited for 'measurements' that the wrist is not
However I agree, I too see the watch as ideal for these sensors
