i prefer my first generation AirPods too. I love how I cannot even tell I am wearing them. It’s like the music comes out of thin air and I prefer the bass compared to my AirPod Pro.

The only thing I like more is the ANC but that’s it.

i actually assumed in-ear would mean that they would stay better IN my ears, especially since they provide 3 different sizes but nope I have the constant feeling of them almost falling out and I have to push them back in. The original AirPod fit me better (tho I also dropped them a few times)
I agree, plus I like being able to tap to change tracks when I'm in the gym. Squeezing the stems of the pros means I need to push them back in again, especially if running!

do people think this rumor is true or think 2nd gen is just around the corner?

I tend to think its true, most people aren't holding on the edge of their seats for new AirPods, be it regular or pro. They just want wireless earbuds and have them or don't or have old busted models or dont

Apart from tech geeks I think most people just care to have a working set of earphones they like.

I bought and returned a set of Air Pod Pros because the noise cancelation didn't work. Bought another pair and the right earpiece failed after 35 days. On top of that the noise cancellation is totally a joke. Barely noticeable when toggling it from off-on. I own a LOT of Apple gear and these AirPods Pros are a total steaming mound.
