TV App prompt is up and running now, at least where I am, which is New York. This is how you get the prompt to come up, per the article:

"Apple TV users with a DirecTV Now subscription will see a prompt to integrate their data with the TV app after playing a DVR show for the first time."

Functionality isn't explained here. So play a DVR and within the DirectTV now app you will get a prompt? Or you would need to navigate to the tv app after playing a DVR

Play the DVR in DirecTV Now app and you will get a prompt to integrate your data into the TV App.

I cannot get Siri to work to open DirecTV Now and go the channel I request. Don't know if that is still rolling out but, as of now, at least for me it is not working.

[doublepost=1552084414][/doublepost]Okay so, I figured out the Siri issue. You do not use the phrase in the article "tune in to [your favorite channel]." It does absolutely nothing.

At the home screen on the Apple TV, I say "Go live to Fox Business Channel" and it opens up DirecTV Now and goes live to Fox Business. Also, while in DirecTV Now you can ask Siri to go to channels, but it is a little hit and miss.

If you have a channel app, say ESPN, and ask Siri to go to ESPN, it will open the ESPN app, and will not go to ESPN in DirecTV Now.

Still playing around with it, so I might find some more things out.

Thanks for this, this is the first time I’ve actually got anything to work with Siri live function. The funny thing is the only channel that works has been FOXBusiness and even then you have to click a prompt to open it up in DIRECTVnow, interesting. I haven’t found another channel that it works with yet, very hit and miss. And as you stated, This doesn’t work if you have an app downloaded, in addition even if I didn’t have the app downloaded, it’s still prompts me to download an app.

My experience is the same. Only Fox Business Channel seems to work right now.

Trying to go live to almost any channel makes Siri look for an app.

This is one crappy update thus far. Not impressed.

I have the channel "Cheddar" in my package and I got it to change to that, but other than that, I have not had much luck but I have been busy so I have not tested much more yet.

Edit: Not 100% sure that the Siri issue is related to the DirecTV Now app.

A couple things: The first time I had Siri change the channel to Fox Business it brought up the prompt, but after that it has not brought up a prompt since then. I also got it to go to the channel "Cheddar." I had to say this exact phrase or it will not work: "Go live to Cheddar channel." Sounds awkward, but works.

Second, at first I had the Spectrum app downloaded because I tried it out for the 7 day free trial. When I would ask to go to ANY channel, it would ask to open the Spectrum app. So, I deleted it and still was asking for Spectrum. So next I restarted my Apple TV by holding the "Menu and Home" button together until the light on the Apple TV starts to blink, let go of the buttons and the ATV will reboot. The home button is the one with the TV on it. Anyway, once the Apple TV restarted it not longer asked for the Spectrum app and opened the channel I requested without a prompt. My point is, if you have some apps you do not use that interfere with Siri/DirecTV NOW, simply deleting them is not enough. You must reboot your Apple TV.

It appears right now it is all about the phrase you use to change channels. Obviously, we do not know how they want us to phrase certain things, so I would expect a rather quick update to DirecTV Now to address some of this, because as I said in another post, I am not 100% sure the entire Siri issue is the fault of DirecTV Now. We shall see!

Keep us updated if you figure anything new out. Thanks.

We just dumped DirectTV Now for PlayStation Vue and could not be happier.

Rewind live streams? Not on DirectTV. 20 hours DVR sucks.

PSVue I believe allow using a device away from home, but only one TV device stream can be active at a time as I understand it. (which may be problematic even at home if two people want to watch different stuff in different rooms?) I could be wrong, as I haven't tried PSVue myself after seeing they disallow multi-home usage.

No this is not correct. I have PSVue and I can currently stream to 5 devices at my home location(we have 4 apple TVs) and three outside simultaneously.

See: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/n...ed-devices-and-set-up/#simultaneous-streaming

  • When you first subscribe, you’ll have access to three simultaneous streams, both in-home and out-of-home. After you set your home device, you’ll receive two additional streams to use in-home, for a total of up to five simultaneous streams in-home, within the guidelines below. Note: you can only have one home device set at a time. You can set or change your home device up to three times.
  • Whether or not you set your home device, you can stream on three devices out-of-home.

Thanks for the clarification. I must have misinterpreted something.

Their site here seems to suggest I can't have a TV-connected stream simultaneously at both home and away, which is something that I need to be able to do. Any thoughts?

You can only stream Vue on one TV-connected device (set-top box or stick) at a time while outside your home area. Meaning you cannot stream Vue from inside and outside your home area at the same time.

I guess I probably should just do a trial and check the various use-cases I need to have function. Thanks again.

It appears your correct for TV connected streaming devices. I’m not sure if that means your home iPad would not stream at the same time. I’ll have to try that next time my partners out of town.

So far we’ve had all 4 TVs streaming and two iOS devices out of the area without a problem. But the reverse like you stated appears to be their sticking point.

Just learned that directv Now is increasing all packages by $10 a month.....and going to a two plan package with less channels...for now you can keep your current package and channels and it will still increase by $10 next month....

Just noticed Sling Blue has all the channels I actually watch with a 40% discount so only $15 a month for three months and then $25 a month....switching to Sling Blue.....goodbye AT&T directnow and the outrageous price hikes and plans to come.

Can you link to a verified source? I can't find anything.

According to the Terms, DirectvNow will have to notify subscribers via email of any price changes prior to implementation.

  1. 4.7 Price Changes. We reserve the right to adjust the pricing for the Service, and any element thereof, in any manner and at any time, in Our absolute and sole discretion. Except as otherwise provided in this Agreement, any price changes to the Service, or any element thereof, will take effect following notice to You at the email address registered with Your Service account.

If that comes to fruition, I will hang onto my "Go Big" package that I am currently pay $35 for.

You’re still paying $35/month for the Go Big package? I signed up on day one in November 2016 and was paying $35/month until they raised the price by $5/month six months or so ago.

Yea, I have checked my bill each month, and it is still $35. When I signed up, I told the CS rep that as long as he made sure to keep my price at $35, I would stay subscribed. I don't know what he did ion the system but, it has stayed the same price. I don't expect it will with another increase.

Interesting. The channel lists at that site seem to be missing some bits like HGTV or A&E, so hopefully they're not quite accurate. Or if they are dropping them, that removes the reason I've not switched to YTTV.

Currently I'm on the JustRight so I can get the RSNs but otherwise would be fine with the LiveALittle level plan.

When the price jump rolls out in April I'll evaluate my options and stay or jump as fits my needs. As it stands now, DTVN replaces having two cable tv subscriptions (home and weekend cabin) that'd be over $180/mo.

Never got a pop up to connect to TV app. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Did you go into the DirecTV Now app and start a recorded show in the DVR? If not, that is why you have not received the prompt to integrate your data to the TV App.

Per DirecTV Now's instructions: "Apple TV users with a DirecTV Now subscription will see a prompt to integrate their data with the TV app AFTER playing a DVR show for the first time."

Post back if you are still having problems.

I did. Multiple attempts. I'm now going to do a new recording for a few minutes and then start playing it. See what happens. I've logged out of Directv Now. Turned tv provider off and on etc. Lots of steps haha

You should try restarting your Apple TV (not just put it to sleep) by holding down the menu and home (home button has the TV symbol on it) buttons together until the light on the Apple TV starts to flash. Once the light starts to flash, let go of both buttons at the same time and the Apple TV will restart.

It is worth giving it a try.

Also, are you sure you are on the updated version of the DirecTV Now app(Version: 2.2.0, Build #: 1275)? You can check this by searching for the DirecTV Now app in the App Store and if it says update, you are not on the updated version, obviously. If none of this works, I would uninstall the DTVN app from the Apple TV, restart the Apple TV, and then reinstall the DTVN app. Also, are you running the latest version of tvOS, which is version 12.1.2?

Let me know how things work out. Later.

Everything works for me. I actually went into the tv app, and i scrolled through and opened a dvr movie. I had options to play it on multiple platforms. Directv now was an option.

Since then I've seen more integration. I checked the tv all and directv now is also listed. But i can confirm i never got a pop up to connect.

Also i just asked siri to turn to ABC it came up asking me to turn to ABC via Directv Now. So i guess it works. I'd rather she just turn to the channel, taking away the confirmation pop up
