They offer up considerably more channels than the competition at this price point... 66 channels, to 52 with Hulu, the next highest, to 47 with Youtube TV... then it plummets. I threw these all into a spreadsheet to track the prices in my hunt for what would be the best deal.
I dunno about you, but outside of the introductory $35 for 100 channels (normally $60) on DirecTV Now, Youtube TV has been the best bang for my buck. I even canceled my grandfathered DTV Now plan when YTTV became available in Phoenix. YTTV has all 4 major networks, and even 3TV (non-national station in AZ, arguably the most popular channel here). A few months ago, they added a whole slew of new channels for no extra money! I recently went into my guide and counted the channels 1 by 1... I got 77 channels for $35. Cloud DVR on day one. App available on my XBox One. All of my Youtube Red shows (Cobra Kai...etc) also are available in YTTV.

AT&T is just greedy.

AT&T's live TV streaming service DirecTV Now will increase the price of every subscription tier by $5 per month beginning sometime around August 1, 2018.

Oh, oh. There goes my tax cut. Actually I don't care. I'm more concerned about all the "Marvel" and other crap from my local movie theaters. I have MoviePass and for the last couple of weeks, there is NOTHING I want to see at my local theaters. If they don't start making at least a few adult movies, the theaters business with vanish in a few years.

I'm honestly surprised so many people spend money to watch commercials. I quit doing it long ago and never will again.

Lol. Between internet package and the cost of these streaming services you might as well have cable to begin with. Cord cutting was cheaper. It’s creeping up to be just as costly as regular cable.

At the outset I would agree. I don't count Netflix or Amazon Prime as I would have those with or without a cable subscription. So my current breakdown is $64.99 for Internet and $40 for Direct TV Now's Go Big Package (early adopters got this) including HBO. So that is $104 per month, going up to $109. I could easily secure a Double Play package from my cable provider (Spectrum) for the same money but, and this is a big but, the price would increase after 12 months to $150 - $160 per month.

In addition, DTV Now has much better picture quality even without 4K, than my cable company had by far. If I were to take any action it would be to ditch DTV Now and not replace it.

Who else thinks that YouTube TVs monthly price will be going up soon ?

When Sling TV Orange went up to $25 recently, people posted saying that DirectTV Now was the best because they weren't increasing their prices. Two weeks later, DirectTV Now increased its prices.

People should enjoy what they pay now since all the streaming services are going to go up in price.

I omitted local channels and RSNs in my count (or did my best to identify them and not count them). But to that end -- I'm keeping my eye on them all. Really, it's about live sports for me. I can get pretty much everything else off of Hulu as my DVR substitute (with some delays here and there). So MSG is the kicker for me... even though I didn't count them in the numbers.

Playstation Vue is going up by $5 as well. Greed is contagious...

Just got an email from Sony late last night informing me of the $5 price hike. However, they are bumping me up to the Elite package for six months as a "valued customer." Although the Elite package comes at a good time since CFB and NFL will be starting up in September and that's when I typically make use of the extra sports channels.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is whether people who signed up for the service within a few months of November 2016 and got an introductory rate of $35/month for the "Go Big" plan are also going to be affected by the price increase. Edit: Nevermind. It looks like the second post in the comments addresses this. Guess we'll see if my bill goes up next month. I still haven't gotten an e-mail from DIRECTV Now notifying me of the price increase.

I got an email informing me of the $5 price hike on grandfathered plans on Saturday night. Subject: “DIRECTV NOW account update” I also could have sworn they promised $35 forever but will have to look back at my emails.

YTTV was the first to increase by $5... they are now $40, but they did not increase it for existing customers... only new customers. I am confident that Google will stay true to the $35 pricing for existing customers for a long while. People who have the introductory $7.99/mo Google Play Music service... STILL have it.

FYI - this also likely applied to those of you grandfathered into that intro $35/month deal. That promo was to remain on the 3rd tier for the latest tier price... it was not a permanent $35/month cost, and they were pretty clear about that when they launched the service.

Hater much... Link!?

If you have an ATV, download the PBS apps and you can watch 90% of all the programs they offer. With the kids app you have even a live TV option from your local station.

Am a first day signup to DTVN, but haven't received an email yet, but doubt I can stay on the $35 plan. I am fine with their service, no need to start shopping somewhere else. DVR Service has certainly improved from the early stages, but I agree that it is still not perfect yet.
Thanks for the advice on PBS. I am a Passport holder and have the PBS app and am able to watch what I want on my ATV. With some shows I have to wait a day. Cheers!

They did promise that. They lied.

I literally quoted it further down. Just because you don't like it doesn't make me a "hater". And now people are confirming that they DID get an email about it.

But since you're too lazy to look it up yourself and would rather just call people names, here is the quote from AT&T:

“We want to let our potential DIRECTV NOW customers know our limited-time pricing on the “Go Big” package will end Monday, Jan. 9. Any current DIRECTV NOW customers, and those who sign up before the promotion ends, will stay at the special price of $35 for “Go Big” package. That’s a monthly savings of $25. Customers who sign up for this offer will continue to enjoy this special price for as long as they keep the package, subject only to future reasonable programming price increases applicable to all packages.”

No, they did NOT promise that. They promised this promo would always be at the lowest price they offered, they never said it would be $35 forever.

Essentially it’s a guaranteed $25 discount.

Has anyone else had recordings in your DVR that you did not set? No one else uses my account and I keep seeing recording in my DVD cloud that I have to manually erase.

AT&T's live TV streaming service DirecTV Now will increase the price of every subscription tier by $5 per month beginning sometime around August 1, 2018. AT&T confirmed the price hike to CordCutters, stating that the move was made to ensure that the cost of DirecTV Now remains "in line with the market."

The company is referencing the cost of rival services Hulu with Live TV, which started at $40/month, and YouTube TV, which recently raised to $40/month to compete with Hulu. Now, DirecTV Now's entry-level "Live a Little" plan is raising from $35/month to $40/month, aligning with the competition.
Above the basic plan, "Just Right" will increase from $50/month to $55/month, "Go Big" will increase from $60/month to $65/month, and "Gotta Have It" will increase from $70/month to $75/month. While some emails sent out to customers reference an August 1 start date for the new prices, some users have noted earlier dates.

Although unconfirmed, AT&T's $15 credit for Unlimited cellular plan users should still apply to the new DirecTV Now prices. With the price hike, this means that these users will pay $25/month for the "Live a Little" DirecTV Now plan.

The email messages also remind users of upcoming enhancements to DirecTV Now, including an option to upgrade from 20 hours of the True Cloud DVR Beta to 100 hours, parental controls, more local channels, and more. Coming sooner will be an option to add a simultaneous third stream to a plan and a new Spanish language and sports package.

Sling TV also increased a plan price recently, requiring Sling Orange subscribers to pay $25/month for its entry-level tier, up from $20/month.

[doublepost=1532616549][/doublepost]I've already downgraded my package to balance the price out...not missing anything in the way of channels... they should give us the option if we want this new cloud feature they're shoving on us for 5 more a month...I would turn it down cause I don't need it ...I will eventually cancel out my whole service if they raise it again....
