I upgraded my phone to IOS 16. Now every time I delete a message, there is an extra layer. asking if it is junk and do I want to report it. This is annoying. Is there a setting that turns this verification off? Thanks.
I'm with you. I get messages a lot as part of two step authentication and always delete those texts afterward so they don't clutter up my messages queue. This extra step is annoying. I can see how it would be handy sometimes but I already know how to report spam messages to my carrier. Can it be turned off? I get many messages that are not in my contacts and should not be. For example, a text asking me to confirm my haircut appointment.
Yeah I love it too. I never reported jump sms to my carrier because it was a pita to do it each time. This makes it easy.I like this new feature and it's already come in handy. I only get that prompt if the sender is not in my Contacts.

I did that with my Doordash order. Ooops. The first time it came up I mistakenly thought it was one of those "Are you sure you want to delete this thread" type message and I quickly clicked Yes out of habit and reported UPS's delivery message for my incoming iP14 😆
You can filter by unknown senders and then delete them all in one go if you want to be rid of them.I get so much text spam that I actually love this feature even tho I could see how annoying it could be if you never need to report spam. I guess I never really delete conversations otherwise; some of mine go back to like 2015 haha
Why don’t you just add them to your contacts?I’m another one who hates this feature.
I just mistakenly reported a message as junk that was related to my AT&T bill being paid. Oops……hopefully that won’t get blocked in the future.
Not sure i understand how it comes in handy? Does it start blocking texts from that number at some point? I have reported some as Junk... some intentionally and a couple accidentslly.. but so far it doesnt seem to be causing any to be blocked...I like this new feature and it's already come in handy. Yes, it's different than blocking someone. A full explanation is here:Not sure i understand how it comes in handy? Does it start blocking texts from that number at some point? It comes in handy for me for marking the multiple sms spam texts I get a day.Not sure i understand how it comes in handy?
That is a nice improvement.Looks like Apple is making it better in 16.1.

I think that was the right call. I've accidentally done it for texts that weren't junk. But if enough people keep marking a number as sending junk perhaps Apple or the carrier will take action on blocking that number. My question was what the benefit of doing so is. It does not block those junk texts in the future, per the article someone linked. So we are spending time marking them as junk, with doing so not even changing any future behavior…?
I have text messages going back to 2004. Yes, I’m ridiculous, but I don’t care. I have the space.I get so much text spam that I actually love this feature even tho I could see how annoying it could be if you never need to report spam.
