My signature is simply:

iOS

Why do you they need to know which device... Or if it's iPad or iPhone? Or which iPhone? Seems awkwardly gawdy.

It's extremely easy to change, just go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Signature

You can leave it blank or change it to whatever you like.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Infact I quite like it and think its pretty cool. I can't imagine why anyone else wouldn't.
Its a pain cause it leads to a lot of false positives when using some search engines.
Same as when people list their kit in their sig.

I remove it, it seems pretentious to me.

It's like ending an email with "In case you were unaware, i typed this email to you ON MY IPAD, that's right I HAVE AN IPAD, I know you didn't need to know, but I felt like showing off"

if it's important the person I'm emailing knows I'm away from the office, i can simply tell them that in the email.

I have ***Sent from my iPad/phone - Sorry if it is brief*** on mine.

I want people to know that my email/reply has been sent from a mobile device, so excuse typos/short reply.

I don't have an iPad, yet, but the first thing I did when I got an iPhone was change the email signature to "Sent from my phone."

I don't want to look like I'm advertising an iPhone with every email or bragging about my taste in phones, but I do want people to know that I am away from my desk and typing an abbreviated response without access to everything I have at work. I think some of my emails on the road would come off as lazy without the signature, it is almost a disclaimer.

Speaking of silly, where does all this crap come from that I see on so many messages in these forums? Talk about a waste of bandwidth.

I don't bother changing it. If someone I'm communicating with is so fragile that they look at "sent from my iPad" as an insult, that's their problem, not mine.

People can be so PETTY about the most TRIVIAL things--it's sickening at times--I read somewhere that some people are offended because "you don't deem them important enough to send them an email from the job/desktop/**** like that".
Pathetic.
I read somewhere ELSE that others see that specific signature as "snobbish" & that you're simply showing off the fact that you have an iPad.
WHATEVER.

I switched mine to "sent from a mobile device" to piss BOTH camps off.

I doubt they would see it as an insult, per se. They might use it to draw certain inferences about you that might color future interactions. In my own life, it's one thing to be treated like a ******nozzle because I AM one. I'd hate for people to view me that way due to simple misperception.

Once, on a crowded bus in Belize, the straw hat I brought from home developed a hole in it. I said to my companion--without thinking about the bus full of economically disadvantaged locals around me--"Oh, it's only a $10 hat. I knew it was a 'throw away' when I bought it."

Since then, I guess, I've just been extra careful to not be a ******.

But what about the people in this thread that you have hurt? I've been sobbing since the whole self-congratulatory thing.

Dammit! It seems, no matter where I go, my thoughtlessness leaves a wake of devastation! :D
