An iPhone's warranty is only good in the country in which you purchased it. This applies to iPads as well. Macs and iPods are different.

This is incorrect. iPhone warranties are global but only where the same model is available for sale. This means Carrier locked iPhones may not be serviced abroad but a factory unlocked model that also happens to be sold in said country will be serviced. Same stipulations are attached to the iPad, WiFi models being more likely to be serviced.

i got my german iPhone 5 replaced in 2013 while i was studying abroad in Spain. not sure if both being part of the EU matters

Again people just repeating what they've read on the internet. The post above says it may restrict, it does not say it does restrict. How do I know it has international warranty? Simple, I had my iPhone replaced whilst abroad. When I spoke with the Apple Rep over the phone she said exactly what I stated earlier. iPhone warranties are global but only where the same model is available for sale. This means Carrier locked iPhones may not be serviced abroad but a factory unlocked model that also happens to be sold in said country will be serviced. On a side note, The Apple Care Representative who handled everything for me in regards to the AASP was in Ireland. I figured she would be American. Going through the Apple Rep expedited everything so I didn't have to deal with the AASP. I highly recommend doing it this way.

So AmazingKerem don't believe me? Call Apple Care or better yet travel abroad and have your phone repaired. Do not just regurgitate what's repeated to you as gospel set in stone.

Incorrect. Adding AppleCare does not make it an international warranty. All this does is extend the limited warranty.
I've had no problem getting AppleCare service at an authorised dealer on a US-bought device, outside the us. These are mobile devices, not fridges, its not a shock if you need service abroad. Am sure youd get the same at any Apple store if you have AppleCare

So, I'm assuming that apart from your story, you have no proof or evidence whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure the Apple warranty is 'set in stone'. Anyway...

When I bought my last iPhone in Hong Kong, the guy at the Apple Store explicitly told me (even before asking) that the warranty would only be valid in Hong Kong - not even in Mainland China! This is also the case for iPads, but not for MacBooks (I had my HK purchased Macbook Air repaired in China without problems).

I use to spend quite a bit of time in Hong Kong actually for various work engagements. I remember what a big deal it was when people who bought there iPhone 5S in Hong Kong couldn’t have it serviced on the mainland. This was because they were in fact selling different models. In Hong Kong the model was A1530 where as they were selling A1528 on the Chinese Mainland. I stated earlier,

Although it seems ridiculous that a Hong Kong phone couldn’t be serviced on Mainland China, it doesn’t contradict anything I said as China does not sell the same model that is sold in Hong Kong. For further clarification, Hong Kong and China sell the same Macbook Air model so it’s no surprise you could have it serviced on the mainland but MacBook warranties are unrestricted so that is neither here nor there.

You should take the time to reread the Apple Warranty. How can something be set in stone if it says something may be restricted. The legal definition for may is as follows:

may
v. a choice to act or not, or a promise of a possibility, as distinguished from "shall" which makes it imperative. 2) In statutes, and sometimes in contracts, the word "may" must be read in context to determine if it means an act is optional...
I also don't understand why you are so steadfast with this opinion when you have no personal experience in the matter. Perhaps bushido, Osamede, and I are lying with the explicit intent to deceive anyone who may be reading this.

Then Apple have changed it ages ago, as we've replaced plenty of iDevices and Apple computers which have been purchased in other countries. The last iPhone we exchanged under AppleCare was brought into us by and american lady. It was covered under AppleCare and when we had completed the order, Apple shipped us a replacement under Applecare. It arrived the next day, which made the young lady pretty happy with the service.

Hey, sorry to revive this old topic. I am currently in mainland China and will be for some time and my US-bought iPhone 6S is malfunctioning:

The (US) Apple Support person told me to have it checked in store. Do you think it would be possible to have it serviced here? Say, if they determine I need battery replacement, would they be able to do it for a standard fee?
