I also had issues with pairing when taking them out of their case. Basically sometimes they would pair quickly and sometimes they wouldnt. Maybe I got a defective pair, who knows.
Once PAIRED a BT remains PAIRED until it is UNPAIRED. Why were you apparently PAIRING them each time you used them?

I’m definitely not disappointed but they won’t replace my AirPods 2. The most annoying thing is, if you carry them without the case, they maintain an active connection draining the battery. Because of this active connection, if you accidentally hit the side button they will start the player on your phone draining the phones battery. I even tried one of those little soft cases and it still would activate the button while in my pocket. So for me they are very activity specific but if they are coming on and off I have to bring the charging case with me.

Also because of my ear geometry the large silicone tips are the only ones that provide the necessary seal. Unfortunately the larger tips come with a bit of ear fatigue. I love my PBP’s and will keep them but my AirPods are definitely not being replaced.

I got mine on Friday. Impressive design, but overall, I’m a bit disappointed. Following are my concerns:
  • As others have noted, the volume is just too low at the max — not that I want to listen at that level regularly, but if I’m on a subway platform, for instance, basically very little can be heard
  • I have tried both Comply tips and the included silicon. Surprisingly, the large silicon seem slightly better for me. But either way, isolation isn’t great. Might be that it’s hard for me to see the ear tips fully in my canals
  • The sound is a bit tinny for my taste, but this just may be because I’m not getting a great fit? It gets a bit better when I hold them pressed into my ears, but that’s impractical
  • The part where the “B” logo is can press up against cartilage in my ear, creating discomfort rather swiftly
  • On my run today into the wind, they did little to drown out the wind noise
  • Hey Siri seems harder to trigger than the Airpods 2 I tried (but don’t fit me)
  • The case — ah that case — is just enormous
I did use them on a run today and they were certainly secure. Everything seems well-constructed. But overall, I’m not sure I’m not just better off sticking with my tried and true Jabra Elite Active 65ts.

In comparing the two for me, the Jabras are equally secure (with the Comply tips I use), isolate more noise, are more comfortable and more weatherproof, at least by rating (and I have run for hours in pouring rain in them). Plus the case is certainly more compact. Not quite AirPod compact, but not too far off.

Conversely, they lack some of the tech and connectivity wizardry that the PBP’s boast. But then again, once connected, I think that becomes less important.

I hope others enjoy their PBPs greatly. I will try them for another few days, but I think I may save myself the money and stick with what has worked well for me with the Jabras.

Just as an update, I did end up returning them. While I started to appreciate them more, they just were not superior to my Jabras in really any way, other than the “Hey Siri” function (which I will miss).

Incidentally, one other issue with the PBPs that did arise — on longer runs when I would sweat more, the moisture in my ear (sorry, not trying to get gross here) would make the seal with the silicon tip in the left make a little popping sound with each step as they got jostled with each footfall. Like the seal being broken and then reestablished and then broken again each time. As summer comes and it heats up, this might have become more of an issue for me.

Good luck to others. I hope you enjoy them. And if you are willing to try ‘em out, do consider the Jabras. Going back to them full time as the PBP excitement wore off, I have gained a newfound appreciation for how good they are.

This might be one of the most overhyped pieces of gear i've ever looked forward to purchasing. I think most people are super excited (as I was), because it's fun to want something and not be able to get it. If you are coming from Airpods you will probably be slightly let down though. The sound quality to my ears is closer than I thought which makes it harder to give up the portability and case size, and/or lack of ear fatigue. Luckily the Airpods never fall out of my ears during any extreme workouts!

I've returned mine as well.

I have AirPods. The quality of the PowerBeats Pro sound is above AirPods. So, I am not sure if you use the provided buds correctly. The bass sounds of the Pro is incredible and superior than the AirPods. AirPods has higher risks to use when performing extreme workouts. I am wondering what extreme workouts you are referring too that do not make your AirPods fall. The PowerBeats Pro is the best EarPods product Apple has ever made. The price is justified by its design and features. I understand the price can be intimidating to many. However, the product is totally worth of price.

Like I said the sound between the two is more similar than I expected. Typically I’ll run 5-8 miles, lifting, CrossFit, and for my ears the Airpods never move (thankfully). No ear fatigue, wireless charging, and pocketable case make it a no brainer for the Airpods 2.

I bought into the Powerbeats Pro hype, but for me quickly realized that there hype out weighed reality. Much happier with the Airpods 2 and bought an extra Hermès band with the money I saved from returning the Powerbeats Pro.

If you really want quality audio in you ear you should check these B & O. They are outstanding, they will make you smile and hear things you never heard before in your music. But ifheyfall out it's a pain to find them.
However the PBP offer an ear secure feature where they don’t fall out.

Yes, for some they can run five miles then climb El Captain and finish the day on the vault with a perfect ten an never lose their Earbuds.
Sadly most other people don’t have the same experience and lose the EarPods in urinals while flushing (including Jabirds).

The PBP address this, they stay in you ears an That is what I paid for. No other headset can match the PBPs for staying in my ear. As for sound they are pretty good and better than Earpods bout only after you go through the struggle of finding the correct tips. I have a coffee can of tips from years of earbuds. It’s took two weeks for me to get just the right fit/feel.

Bottom line: they're solidly built, sound good (Not perfect),. Have great battery life and staying your ear when you're active. If that's not enough move in to other options before you're return period ends.
I am very pleased compared to what's available and will keep these till the next best thing hits. But YMMV. Also make sure you measure apples to apples so it's best to test with a CD using a song with good separation sound stage and multiple instruments. Tip current songs that use "Auto Tunes" don't measure up So don't test with "Old Town Road".

Just happened to find a pair of Powerbeats Pro at an Apple store while traveling. I don't think there is a comparison with the AirPods in terms of clarity and sound stage (Powerbeats far better). As mentioned previously by others the sound signature is pushing more on the bass so mids suffer a bit. I think these are decent quality for $250. As with everything with audio, this all about personal preference.

Something interesting I found is that the volume is lower on iPhone vs. MacBook Pro. If you are feeling the volume is low with the iPhone then try it out on the MacBook Pro, it gets loud enough where it hurts eardrums. Makes me think it's more a software/firmware issue with either the iPhone, Powerbeats, or both.

If the sound is hollow, lacking bass, etc. then fit is probably wrong. Also, check out other sources. When listening with the same track on Apple Music and then on Tidal, Tidal HiFi has better soundstage and instrument separation and clarity. If you have access to both check out the track "Tin Pan Alley" by Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble using the PowerBeats then AirPods (if you have) on the MacBook Pro. The difference is more far more noticeable on the PowerBeats than with the AirPods.

I think you nailed it, many people use 128 AAC standard. You have to use a CD to really compare

I totally missed you saying pretty much the same thing right above my response. Totally agree with your points. Much better than AirPods for exercise with the benefits of decent audio quality.

I've had the PB Wireless 2 and 3. I got my PB Pro yesterday. They're awesome! Paired instantly and they turn off an on like they're supposed to. The PBP do exactly what I bought them for. Sorry everyone else seems to hate them. YMMV. ATKOT.

I don't think its a hate relationship. More like a disappointment from the hype that preceded their release.

My only disappointment with the PB 3 Wireless is the humongous case.
+1
But this leads to a few issues (for me anyway).
1) You need to have your case to pair the earbuds to a new device. If you leave the case at home and want to pair to a new device, you are SOL.
2) The earbuds loose about 5% an hour if you dont have them in the charging case. For example if you leave the house at 6am for work, then go to for a workout/ride/trip at 6pm after work, the earbuds start the workout with 50% charge. If you go on a weekend trip, you would certainly have to bring the case, even if you only wanted to listen to the buds a few hours on the plane both directions. They would certainly be dead by the 2nd day.
3) The other problem with the charging case it that its a pain to figure out if both earbuds are indeed seated in the charging case firmly, and actually charging. You have to pull out the phone to verify that both earbuds are seated properly.

I personally like the earbuds. They meet my needs very well. But, I hate everything related to the case, and when you HAVE to use it.

I got my PowerBeats Pro in yesterday, which I was very excited for because I loved the PowerBeats 2's, but hated the 3's because I thought they sounded terrible. With Apple stating that they focused so much on getting great sound out of the Pro's, I was very optimistic that these would be great.

Unfortunately, the audio on them is just really bad. I'm comparing the audio to the Airpods 1 and 2 (which I own). The audio is no where near the quality that it is on the Airpods. It just sounds hollow, and honestly its not nearly as loud as the AirPods. It honestly sounds exactly like the sound on the PowerBeats 3, which I found tinny and just overall poor.

What's sad about this is how great the feel and fit is of the PowerBeats Pro. The AirPods fit great in my ears as well, but I was just hoping for something with a little more ooomph in the sound, and I also loved the design of the Pro's. The fit and secure feel of them is the best I've ever felt in wireless headphones, but this poor sound quality is just killing them for me.

I'm not getting rid of them yet and will continue testing them, but thus far the audio quality is a major let down for me. I really don't want to return them because they look and feel so great to wear, but I'm just not sure that alone justifies the high price tag when the AirPods sound so much better to me.

Donnation!
tl;dr Sound problem with Powerbeat Pros? Pay careful attention to fit and insert size; work your way through all the four supplied pairs; you will be rewarded.

So great to read your comments as I was feeling very, very weird. I read nothing but rave reviews over their sound quality and I had been finding them so tinny I was going to return them as I have only had them five days.
To try and address this, I played with the iPhone standared "EQ" settings to no avail, I find "bass boost" the best setting but also note the marginal difference I can pick between all of the different EQ settings. I also experimented with the two of different ear inserts [whatever they are called that came with the Pros] again to no avail really. I used the two pairs most likely to fit based on what I know about my ears. But then, reading the comments on this thread, including your being trolled by people incredulous at your disappointment, [sorry for that, why don't people be nice in their disagreemeent] I went back and tried all the inserts, to find the largest, most giant ones were a life changing experience!!!! No seriously.
For my ears, it turns out the sound is unbelievably affected by the inserts used and the ones most unlikely to be suited to me in fact, produce the best sound. So, now, [given I use a lossy format, MP3s] these things sound totally, amazingly awesome!
My disquiet has been totally assuaged, rather oddly over the course of writing this post and I now I am a true believer.

I just returned my AirPods for the PBP and the sound quality is insane compared to AP2. I listen to a lot of dance, EDM, and hip hop so the extra bass helps a lot. At first the sound was very tinny due to the default tips. I had to play around with the tips for 10 minutes with different songs. Once I found the perfect seal, the bass was thumping and these bad boys are not going to fall out of my ears.

Mine sound absolutely terrible. Starting to wonder if mine are possibly defective? I doubt it is the shape of my ears because everyone that has tried mine has said they sound terrible. Its so bad that after trying mine, every person that has heard it has decided they will never buy them. The fit is great, and I actually love them but the sound is pure trash. No bass, almost like if you turn the treble up all the way and turn down the bass. Playing with EQ doesn’t help.

Thats how my first set sounded. I was left very unimpressed and eventually returned them. 2 week later I repurchased them and the new ones are night and day different! Sounds superb compared to my AirPods, and the finish is better as well with no gaps or misalignments.

Same issue; disappointed because the treble is crap. Improving the seal and choosing the right eq setting helped. Unfortunately they will be great for some song and not others. That’s not a big issue for me because I only have them for the gym. My Sony is for higher quality blue th experience and I’ll go DAC and wired speakers for hi Rez MQA
