If you don't use anything other than the MacBook Pro to type on then you adapt, that's what humans do, they adapt to change.
As such you quickly 'adapt' and get used to it.

If on the other hand you have another MacBook you occasionally go back to then it remains quite the opposite; you will always find one different to the other.

I move between a long travel mechanical keyboard and the rMB keyboard at my desk all day long. It takes no more than a moment to adapt to each one as I switch.

They also didn't test the crap out of TB3 ports when they don't support all cables. I can go on forever.

So at what point does the testing end and can you think of everything?

All of us know the "law of unintended consequences!"

I miss the long travel of the older keyboard style, but I actually like the audible "click" of the new keyboard. It reminds me of those mechanical gamer keyboards.

I've always maintained that the Macbook's keyboard is way too loud - but was promptly branded a lunatic with poor typing habits by a lot of people here. Glad to see that the MacBook Pro's keyboard is also loud as f*** :)

I tested the new keyboard – and was shocked, how loud at least the space bar was on the demo MacBook Pro without Touchbar. And I pressed it with almost no force, very gently. Interestingly, the keyboard of the demo MacBook 12” 2016 was much quieter and there was no difference if the space bar is being pressed or another buttons.

I am glad that it didn't bother your 1- year old. I hope that folks in library and meetings are as forgiving as your 1-year old is.
Those folks in a library, coffee shop, or at work who complain can kick rocks.

If you're being productive and minding your own business, then that's all that matters.

You'd think the testing would start at the most common white labelled USB thumb drive drive on earth... which doesn't work.

seriously take a deep breath..you are returning over a keyboard? You need to give yourself time to get used to it. I actually find this thing is quiet once you learn how to go softer on it and rest your hands properly. Don't blame Apple because you don't want to give it time to get used to it. Don't get me wrong it can be loud if you are typing like you would on a chiclet keyboard. This thing doesn't require you to move as much around the keys as those keys do. Just give it more time and relax and go slow, once you get use to it this thing is the best keyboard they have ever made if you ask me. Super responsive and easy to use.
OK, I will give it a try for 10 more days and see how it works. I am also setting up my Apple Watch to remind me to take deep breaths intermittently.

I've been a Mac user for a long time. I really don't understand how they could produce a computer with a keyboard this loud. I almost think we are involved in some type of experiment where Apple is trying to see how far they can push their customer base before they leave the company. If Windows wasn't such a horrible experience, I wouldn't have purchased this over priced, irritating computer.

I truly hope this keyboard "quiets down" after a month or so. I'll get used to it, but I use my computer to type notes in meetings, and this will be distracting for everyone.

Price really is a concern as well. I don't need the computing power of the 15 inch, but I do need the screen space, both for my eyes and working on two documents at once, which I do a lot when renewing grants. Apple store employees talked me into the LG 4k monitor, stating its cheaper to buy the 13 and use an external monitor, which has an even bigger screen, but if I'm going to buy into that logic, why not just get an iMac? And I'm out of the office too much to rely on a stationary external monitor. So in my case by a heavier refurb and get the price down around 2200 or pay 400 more for an new one. This a lot of money compared to a windows laptop.

Doesn't seem loud to me.

I just tried the 13" without touch bar today in store. Wow... I feel like I can type way faster... I did comparison with last year's Macbook beside it and I actually prefer the feel of the new one. It is loud though!

Sort of like the iPad smart keyboard... I can actually type pretty fast on that thing although it give the impression before trying it that I could not.

Really?

Yes really. To my ears the magic keyboard sounds worse and louder. In the video the two keyboards sound different, but the new mbp one isn't louder.

If I am in my office, cool, but in a meeting or a shared quiet space, it is very loud. I understand your comparison but many of us would say both are unacceptable. I really am curious to watch peoples reaction to me typing on this thing in shared spaces.

Since the pitch is much lower seems more acceptable than the old machines to me. Less abrasive and doesn't travel as far.

I agree it can be louder, but as others have said once you learn how to type with some finesse it can be very quiet. Now it's only loud when I'm angry typing. Don't make me angry type! It's the perfect display of passive aggressiveness.

Just got mine today...it is a bit loud I guess but the sound is a deeper sound so not so clickity-clack...anyways doesn't bother me in the least. Similar to the 12"rMBP if you've used that. The key travel is noticeably better than the 12"rMB but still if you hated that one you will hate this one also. I was okay with the rMB and much more okay with the 2016MBP. Still not sure if I'd rather have my 2012rMBP keyboard over this one or not.

sound meter says it's no louder, but that the frequency distribution is shifted left.

I think it sounds exactly the same, and types the same as the new Apple keyboard. Now, whether that's a good thing or not is a different argument :D

I run hot and cold on this, because my favorite keyboards are the old mechanical cherry switched keyboards. Of course that's with desktops and I find myself in situations where a quieter keyboard on a laptop is a must.

I've been to conferences where I'm typing up notes of what was being discussed and the last thing I want is to have an annoyingly loud keyboard.

I've also been in hotel rooms where I'm working on a small table at 5:00am and I really don't want to wake up my wife.

Aside for the noise the lack of key travel is what bothers me the most.

Same; I have the 2015 rMB and it can be loud if you are a heavy typist, tried the new MBP is definitely louder. I like the "clicky" nature of the keyboard, however over time I have come to dislike the short throw of the keys, possible as I am constantly jumping from rMB, pre 2016 rMBP and now Microsoft`s Surface Book.

I also attend many meetings and even the rMB`s keyboard has raised conversation at times. Not complaint more inquisitiveness, as it does generate more noise than one would expect. The new MBP being louder is certainly not desirable. When on a project (heavy engineering) I generate a continuous stream of technical documents, so a notebooks keyboard is an important aspect of the machine for me.

There are other aspects of the 2016 MBP that don't enamour, coupled with a noisy keyboard that I don't like makes the new MBP a hard sell for me.

Also, when you use your office/regular keyboard, it is a constant adjustment going back and forth from MacBook Pro keyboard to a regular keyboard.
