Well, I bit on a $49 listing on Mercari for a "Like new" UV band. Below is what I got.

The photos they posted may have been accurate, but they were too dark to accurately show the condition. Why can't sellers just be honest in their descriptions???

Ouch. Isn’t that a pretty rare band? Is it still worth keeping at $49? Can the seller offer a partial refund? Or it’s all or nothing?

Bummer. At least the buyer protection with Mercari is good. Was this the seller? Weird it says sold 34 minutes ago.

Yeah, it's that one. Their photos look pretty good, like they were photoshopped or something. And the ones that don't look photoshopped are too dark to make out much. Anyway, this is clearly not "like new" so it's going back.

"Like new, worn once for an hour. Includes box and charger."

The seller is now saying, "There were NO Scratches on this band maybe worn one used yes but in great condition at least when I sent it to you." At least they're admitting it wasn't "like new" but I don't like the implication that it's condition changed once I received it...

I’d file a report with Mercari or something. If you’re lucky they’ll just credit both of you and you’ll get to keep the band.

My experience has been that they just approve all returns. They don’t even tell the seller the reason why. I had someone return something to me about a month ago and the only communication I got was Mercari asking if I wanted the product returned or if they should just refund the buyer immediately. They never asked for my side of the story.

Oh that’s not so bad though! Especially because it does have the S/M. But I guess it’s close enough to Chargie’s M/L listing to make it not worth the hassle of an auction.

Chargie doing auctions. This should be fun.
