Yikes! That is both gross and a fake. Best Buy employees have barely looked at bands I have returned there. So it’s not too hard to imagine a fake getting through. That one seems especially bad though! Take it back.

I already returned it before I posted this. The large band was legit, it was just the other two bands that weren’t.
I explained the issue and got the refund, no problems, but I’m not convinced they won’t just throw it back in the box and resell again. I guess we’ll see how the other ones I ordered play out.
I’m super new to the watch band game, but this seems like a good deal for $35? 1st gen red? I did pickup the obsidian/black Nike they had offered the other day.

Oh, I didn’t even catch that. It’s beat up AND fake. I’ve never had an issue with open box items at Best Buy but it can certainly happen.

I know we have a marketplace here on the forum, though it's mixed with other apple devices. Any suggestions on the best spot to trade brand new/sealed OEM bands? I just got a new watch and don't plan on using the included band. I contacted Apple direct and just found out they closed all stores in my state, only offering express/curbside service now. Otherwise I'd just have them swap it out for a different band.
For trading, I’d recommend posting on a local app like OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace. Honestly you’re better off selling the band and buying whatever band you want. It will probably take a while to find a favorable trade for both parties.
What band do you have and what do you want?
It’s 3 sizes too big for me. Should I watch too? Maybe I can shrink it in the dryer 😂.

Looks fake to me. The only cream color loop Apple made is "Cream" and that has different colored edges.
Are you sure? The seller specifically says it's Taupe and the lug looks white to me. But who knows. Lot's of amateur photographers on Mercari (I'm one of them).
Lots of the neon pink band is actually taupe. The lugs and half the weave. The picture does look like death and makes the rails look too wide (out of focus?) but it has the 40mm printing so I trust it.
This one isn’t all wonky though. Lugs are also proportioned correctly. Doesn’t look fake to me.
