What’s everyone’s secret when searching for good deals on OEM through eBay or Mercari? I always get 3rd party bands no matter what I type. Even when I filter the brand as Apple.

You will get a lot of third party bands regardless. As far as deals go, you can go a week without seeing a good deal but you have to check at least 10x/day or else the band fiends from this forum will beat you.

Band fiends? I think we’re more like band enthusiasts...

I’m totally a casual band collector, no problem here. *surrounded by 100s of bands*

How often are you checking?

Not that often. Looks like I need to check multiple times per day. Sorting by new would be a good method then?

Thanks for the info. It’s awesome that people post links in here. Hopefully I can contribute.

Definitely sort by new. If you don’t the good deals may be gone before you even see them!

The good news is I’m basically done buying old bands and I only have the dark fall20 sport loops left to yoink. So listings will stay up longer. But yes sort by new is a must.

There is nothing to be done about people falsely listing Apple as the brand.

“I just wanted more people to see my listing” is apparently acceptable

I wish this thread was still discounts and sales on new bands (like at BestBuy and such), the way it started out, and the band fiends were in a different thread.

I’m happy for people to have fun chasing fuzzy screenshots of used bands on Mercari, but I have zero interest in doing that myself, and that traffic has completely swamped this thread, so that the information it was originally intended for is pretty hard to find. :-/

Are eBay links to not-mysterious bands ok? I didn’t know it was retail only, my b, yo

Well, retail prices on Apple bands (and everything else Apple) is pretty consistent among retailers. So aside from an occasional post that Best Buy is having a $10 off sale, this thread would get pretty boring! I, for one, appreciate when someone posts a deal on an OEM band on Mercari or eBay--and it seems that many other people posting here do too.

Yes, I appreciate the current tenor of the thread—sharing deep discounts on bands including on eBay and Mercari. A once a month post about the Best Buy $10 off sale would be extremely boring.

You’re thinking of it as an either/or. I’m saying the thread started off as discounts at retailers and didn’t get a lot of traffic, and it was nice that way, because when it did pop up it meant there actually was a sale going on on brand new bands at some retailer, and it might be worth checking out. You don’t have to have every thread have high traffic all the time.

The proper thing to do, months ago, when chasing bands on Mercari became a thing, would have been to start a new different thread, called, “Mercari finds”, or “Band hunters” or something, and have all the pages and pages of up-to-the-minute fuzzy photos of used bands where people can’t be sure of the color, over on that new thread, and then this thread could have kept its original purpose. You could have all your fun there, rather than making this thread useless for its original purpose.

It’s kind of like if the agency running the Emergency Alert System said, “you know, there haven’t been any emergencies in a while, what a waste, let’s start playing music over the system onto everyone’s TVs and radios!”

But at this point, y’all seem to like it this way (as quoted anove), and you won’t want to move to a new thread, and I don’t care to read pages and pages of crap looking for the occasional report of actual new bands, so I might as well give up on this thread.

Just a thought -- if this thread no longer is giving you what you wish, you'll probably have more success in creating your own thread than you will in trying to constrain others into your vision of what this thread should be.

Well, personally I very much appreciate this thread giving me the heads up on deals on Mercari and eBay. (And a lot of those have been NIB bands like 1to3shop.) If this thread were only for retail stores, it would be dead for months and only pop up for Best Buy’s $10 off sale. Apple Bands just don’t normally go on sale.
