What’s everyone’s secret when searching for good deals on OEM through eBay or Mercari? I always get 3rd party bands no matter what I type. Even when I filter the brand as Apple.

There are ways that sellers of 3rd party bands can create their listing so that it purposely shows up on searches for OEM bands. In turn, there are sellers of OEM bands that don't do a great job in ensuring their OEM bands come up on OEM band searches. I typically search for Genuine (or OEM) Apple Watch bands, but exclude the word "leather", since genuine leather 3rd party bands will show up. You need to have patience searching for OEM bands on eBay.

“Genuine” leather

I often see them use wordplay to imply the “genuine” is in reference to the origin rather than the material.

“Genuine Leather Loop Apple Watch Band” results often mean a third party fake claiming to be real leather, not that it’s made by Apple.

Ugh.

Looks like Apple Pay is back at eBay...I wonder how widely or if it’s just this pride seller decided to turn it on or eBay turned it on for them as a test. Card owners rejoice!
Apple Pay will be enabled for any seller that has been migrated from PayPal payments to eBay Managed Payments. Right now this is mostly larger sellers but eBay is “selecting” more and more people for the “privilege” every day.

Well, personally I very much appreciate this thread giving me the heads up on deals on Mercari and eBay. (And a lot of those have been NIB bands like 1to3shop.) If this thread were only for retail stores, it would be dead for months and only pop up for Best Buy’s $10 off sale. Apple Bands just don’t normally go on sale.
Completely and utterly missing the point that there should be two different threads. Was I not clear on that? Did I suggest that there should only be one thread discussing retail stores and no threads on Mercari and such? Or did I lament that this thread had been taken over by Mercari discussion, drowning out the original content/intent, when such material should have gone in a different thread.

Just a thought -- if this thread no longer is giving you what you wish, you'll probably have more success in creating your own thread than you will in trying to constrain others into your vision of what this thread should be.
Go re-read the first sentence of my first post on the matter. Saying “I wish this had gone a different way” does not mean “everybody has to do exactly what I want”. It means just exactly what it says. I wish that this thread hadn’t gotten derailed from the original content in the way that it has.

In any case, twanj made a new thread (thank you @twanj). Which will probably see one or two posts a month, if that. And this thread can return to discussing Mercari.

Glad I could help out :) It’s much brighter a color than I would ever wear so someone might as well enjoy it!

Here’s another sealed 44mm new Red sport loop for $45
Yeah you know I find it garish, which is why it’s prob being dumped so prolifically. But I don’t have any 44mm PRed bands. And I just gotta stay sport loop complete. 💉

I know it’s just an extra $.40 but it’s the game of it all haha. I like the nice literal buzz you get when you use Apple Pay too. Though it’s so hard to double click that side button on a big phone.

I wasn't intending to be critical. I get it, every penny is important, they add up over time.

FYI - Citi DoubleCash Mastercard has full time 2% cash back. Everything. No categories or calendars. Also no annual fee.

It's my usual go to any time there's not a higher cash back category on a different card.

Oh not taken that way at all. Just being embarrassed all on my own. Does the citi card generate lots of emails and snail mail offers? One aspect of the Card that appeals is the privacy vis a vis not being pitched/upsold to other stuff. Or so I was made to believe about “the other guys.”

And I actually pull off 2% pretty much everywhere between ALDI/Trader Karen’s/Albertson’s. Even Del Taco out west here added it because of covid it seems. And your boy buys a lot of Nike at 3%. Sadly I’ve only used the ExxonMobil 3% once as I’ve only gotten gas once since March...

Not that I've noticed, but I also use a secondary email for all that sort of stuff which is completely separate from my primary personal email. I've had the card for a few years and have no complaints. I also generally keep my credit reports frozen so perhaps that limits the amount of chaff.

As for the :apple:card, I've only just recently signed up. Certainly any place accepting ApplePay, no reason to use Citi vs :apple:, but it'd give you an option for those times/places where you need to present a physical card or where they don't take :apple:Pay

My Samsclub mastercard is 5% on gas just about anywhere, so that's an easy win. Same card is 3% for any restaurants/dining.

Publix only recently started accepting :apple:Pay and Kroger doesn't yet. TJ/Aldi/Sprouts do though.

Yeah Kroger/Ralph’s pretty much lost my business once Albie restored Pay. Unless I need a Pennsylvania sugar fix, as they do carry Turkey Hill iced tea.

I love how now you can finance the bands from Apple with the Apple Card for 12 months no interest lol just got approved for it today

Here's a strange one -- a discount on a brand new band.
The new 40mm Plum and Kumquat Sport Loops for $42 at Amazon.

I guess CarlJ won't see this one ;)
