Entertainment Weekly reports that the Discovery Channel is working on a documentary of Steve Jobs to be shown on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. The documentary will be hosted by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of Mythbusters.
"Someone once said that to follow the path that others have laid before you is a very reasonable course of action, therefore all progress is made by unreasonable men," Savage said. "Steve Jobs was an unreasonable man. He didn't simply give the public what they wanted, he defined entirely new ways of thinking about our lives in the digital space: productivity, creativity, music, communication, media and art. He has touched, directly and indirectly, all of our lives."
The one hour special has reportedly lined up a number of interviews with early figures in Jobs' life.

Are they going to blow up iMacs?

Of all the people in the world to host a doco on Jobs, I'd never have picked Adam and Jamie. That's a very strange choice indeed.

Is the Discovery channel using hosts of their most popular show to increase ratings. They want more viewers... only reason they're there.

I reject your personal computer, and substitute my own.

Two utterly great people hosting a documentary on one great person.

Count me in!

I actually can't think of anyone better on Discovery to host this documentary. Should be entertaining. Wish I could watch it. Maybe they'll put it up on iTunes afterwards.

I hope they put to bed the myth that the Apple II was the first commercially successful personal computer.

Discovery wants to be unconventional and not do documentaries the same way as everyone has ever done before. ;)

I don't mind the hosts because I love Mythbusters.

Both are avid Apole users. Macs and iPhones have featured prominently on the show.

In regards to the blowing up thing, Mythbusters has always been more than that. Last episode, for example, had zero explosions. They're about skepticism and science, first and foremost.

For those that don't know, Adam Savage is a long time Mac user. I believe he also appeared at Macworld once.

Personally, I can't wait for this show. These two hosts are one of the best in the business and will show Jobs in a unique way.

i would watch the show for the subject matter, but I won't just because I can't get past looking at the myth buster guy (the guy that wears the beret hat). I can't stand looking at him. awful. awful. awful. puts me in a rotten mood looking at him just switching channels and see him for a split second. I won't be watching.
