Watcher, bro. At least give me a heads up before coming over so I can tidy the place up a bit.

Interesting. Wonder how many Vision Pro users will actually download this app.

1) Buy Vision Pro
2) Subscribe to Disney+
3) Binge this
4) Return Vision Pro within 14 day return window
Sadly this is basically what I did when AVP came out. I watched some MCU classics. I chilled out on top of Avengers tower. And I sat on the beach.

Then I remembered that I have a badass TV and could Airbnb a really nice condo at the beach for a month with $3500.

And back it went.

I’ll never understand the hate for this product from actual tech enthusiasts. Tech like this will never be about “value”. If it was about value we’d never have anything. Everything starts expensive, OLED, big tv’s, computers etc. and everything has a narrow use case when it starts out. How many 4K films were then 4K tvs first came out?

Early adopters who are tech enthusiasts are meant to embrace new stuff with the flaws. That’s what it’s all about. Youre part of the journey to get it to mass market where, ten years down the line it’s cheap and content is everywhere. And you’re meant to get a buzz out of this stage. I see so many bloggers and YouTubers who are meant to enjoy the process at this stage just queuing up to hate it.

i thought tech people kinda “got this” part of the whole thing. But now every thing is based on “value“. it’s like asking whether a 200k Porsche has value. It’s just subjective and pointless at this stage. Just enjoy whatever good things the product has if you have the money and time. That’s it.

The misdirect is in thinking that the primary objection to the device is the price. I assure you: the price is the LAST thing wrong with it.

Surely you mean people who lack imaginations and need and an AVP with formulaic storytelling to fill the hole in their heads.

Nope - that's your take.

As I said previously: People with healthy imaginations. And understand what AR is about and its potential. It's not for people with closed or calcified minds.

There were multiple people saying it could replace their multiple monitor setup and be cheaper, and could be used on a plane or hotel.
There are people on here that say that about an iPad Pro could replace your MacBook
Some people also think the earth is flat

This animation style looks uncanny and cheap af. Definitely too cheap for 3500$ headset. I got headache straight from watching trailer, what is gonna happen with the actual headset??? Did they generate it with AI or smth? Disney/Marvel could have done better.

It’s use case: a limited number of flat screens floating in the air running iPad apps. So far that’s about it. And come on. It’s more convenient than a laptop? There is no universe where that’s even remotely true.
That’s a strawman. I didn’t say Vison Pro is more convenient than a laptop in the matter you’re arguing.

There are certainly use cases again a Vison Pro is fundamentally more convenient, flexible, and private than a laptop.

The use case you mentioned for a Vision Pro as the “only” use case is naive and clearly indicative of someone with primitive use cases for a headset if you believe that. You seem to not think the Vision Pro doesn’t complement the use of a Mac (it does).

With such narrow-minded idea of how to use the headset—perhaps headsets in general with your historical remarks on the device category—you seem very much not the target audience which is fine.

Not all computing devices Apple decides to sell doesn’t need to appeal to you.

OLED was a revelation right from the outset. VR glasses not so much, and esp. not $3500 ones. If you have a use for them and like them then that’s awesome but you shouldn’t be surprised that most other people don’t feel the same way.
…What the Oculus Rift years ago kickstarted proves otherwise.

People not feeling the same way for VR vs OLED is a disingenuous and/or flawed comparison: VR is fundamentally a more expensive and ambitious computing platform vs a more general tech innovation spanning across far more device categories established and emerging with its use.

Of course most people don’t feel the same way.

VR is by design more exclusionary to extract its best or impossible-to-copy benefits + minimum recommended performance thresholds in addition to being far more easily ignored by those with very modest computing needs—which is ironically most people.

I completely disagree. A laptop is easier and more intuitive and you don’t have to wear it on your face.

I think you can stop continually framing this as a contest of personalities.

You’re basically saying “I have a healthy imagination. I understand what AR is all about. I understand AR’s potential. I have an open mind. My mind is not calcified. YOU, on the other hand…” It’s kinda insulting.

Besides, what you’re defending is cartoons for kids, which is kind of pointless. Disney’s Marvel content won’t bring in big numbers of people. Shocking but true: most adults don’t spend a lot of time thinking about cartoons and comics.
