Sadly this is basically what I did when AVP came out. I watched some MCU classics. I chilled out on top of Avengers tower. And I sat on the beach.1) Buy Vision Pro
2) Subscribe to Disney+
3) Binge this
4) Return Vision Pro within 14 day return window
I’ll never understand the hate for this product from actual tech enthusiasts. Tech like this will never be about “value”. If it was about value we’d never have anything. Everything starts expensive, OLED, big tv’s, computers etc. and everything has a narrow use case when it starts out. How many 4K films were then 4K tvs first came out?
Early adopters who are tech enthusiasts are meant to embrace new stuff with the flaws. That’s what it’s all about. Youre part of the journey to get it to mass market where, ten years down the line it’s cheap and content is everywhere. And you’re meant to get a buzz out of this stage. I see so many bloggers and YouTubers who are meant to enjoy the process at this stage just queuing up to hate it.
i thought tech people kinda “got this” part of the whole thing. But now every thing is based on “value“. it’s like asking whether a 200k Porsche has value. It’s just subjective and pointless at this stage. Just enjoy whatever good things the product has if you have the money and time. That’s it.
The misdirect is in thinking that the primary objection to the device is the price. I assure you: the price is the LAST thing wrong with it.
But there still would be threads asking if the vision pro could replace a laptop. So if it was free or $199 there would be this much moaning?
Please!
Of course it’s the price.
Totally agree. If you have a use for them and like them then that’s awesome but you shouldn’t be surprised that most other people don’t feel the same way.
Well your going to be waiting years if they even release another headsetNever bought the original iPhone or the 3G but I did pull the trigger on the 3Gs. I plan the same for the headset.
It’s not about replacing a laptopBut there still would be threads asking if the vision pro could replace a laptop.
Surely you mean people who lack imaginations and need an AVP with formulaic storytelling to fill the hole in their heads.Spot on. It's for people with healthy imaginations.

There were multiple people saying it could replace their multiple monitor setup and be cheaper, and could be used on a plane or hotel. It’s not about replacing a laptop
It’s because it looks absolutely silly
There are people on here that say that about an iPad Pro could replace your MacBookThere were multiple people saying it could replace their multiple monitor setup and be cheaper, and could be used on a plane or hotel.
That’s a strawman. I didn’t say Vison Pro is more convenient than a laptop in the matter you’re arguing. It’s use case: a limited number of flat screens floating in the air running iPad apps. So far that’s about it. And come on. It’s more convenient than a laptop? There is no universe where that’s even remotely true.
…What the Oculus Rift years ago kickstarted proves otherwise.OLED was a revelation right from the outset. VR glasses not so much, and esp. not $3500 ones. If you have a use for them and like them then that’s awesome but you shouldn’t be surprised that most other people don’t feel the same way.
I completely disagree. A laptop is easier and more intuitive and you don’t have to wear it on your face. That’s a strawman. I didn’t say Vison Pro is more convenient than a laptop in the matter you’re arguing.
There are certainly use cases again a Vison Pro is fundamentally more convenient, flexible, and private than a laptop.
The use case you mentioned for a Vision Pro as the “only” use case is naive and clearly indicative of someone with primitive use cases for a headset if you believe that. You seem to not think the Vision Pro doesn’t complement the use of a Mac (it does).
With such narrow-minded idea of how to use the headset—perhaps headsets in general with your historical remarks on the device category—you seem very much not the target audience which is fine.
Not all computing devices Apple decides to sell doesn’t need to appeal to you.
I feel my mind calcifying just watching that trailer.Nope - that's your take.
As I said previously: People with healthy imaginations. And understand what AR is about and its potential. It's not for people with closed or calcified minds.
