That's great -- wife and I are fully vaccinated, but I'm not interested in wearing a mask for 10 hours in the crushing heat and sweltering humidity of Orlando in the summertime.

Floridians know, Disney World has seasons just like theme parks in the north - for us it's "closed" May-mid October due to Florida's weather punching people in the face.
This is such a useless comment that adds nothing to this discussion reguarding a phone app. All you are doing is touting about how you got vaccinated. I promise you, no one cares.

I was just there last week. Disney world felt empty. They still have the key cards. Similar to hotel rooms key cards. I Think bands are a waste. Most people mainly use if just to enter the park. I use the key card to enter the park put it in my wallet and later that day I use it again to enter my resort room. I can enter the resort room with my iPhone. Using smart phone is a good alternative to the band. Not paying $$ for those bands. They’re not free anymore. Wearing a band all day when you only use it once is pointless to me.

You are using it wrong then. Its also used purchasing around the park, linking your photos automatically to your disney account, and fastpass. It's only pointless to you because of user error.

One can also share a MagicMobile ticket with others. Just hit the 'Select Passes to Share' button within the My Disney Experience App, choose which ticket to share and share it via Messages.

No mention of the fact that only people staying at Disney resorts are even allowed access to this.
You can't get a magic band unless you are staying at Disney's extremely overpriced on-property resorts.

Stay at a reasonably priced place 5 minutes down the road, you're a second class citizen.

No true at all. Anyone can purchase a magic band and it will still work for your park ticket, fastpass, and photos. You just won't be able to purchase with it or use it for your hotel key card...obviously.

How will the photo pass work without the Magic Band? I get the room and gate, I used my watch with Apple Pay to cover meals the last couple of years but the Magic Band would notify the ride you are a rider and put the photo in your collection. Assuming you bought the package.

That is something that is really cool. I know on the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean you would automatically get a custom picture on your PhotoPass. I'm not sure where it reads the MagicBand but I'm guessing it when you get onto the ride. If so then the iPhone might work for that. If it's read later in the ride then you might still need the MagicBand. I took the puck off the MagicBand and have it attached to my shoulder bag I carry.

Same way it does now. Magicbands just have NFC chips in them that the photopass scanners after rides or the scanners that the photopass photographers carry.

With Magicbands it does due to the long range antenna in the band The band has two antennas, long range and short range. Thats how the photos autmatically hit the app. I don't believe the iPhone has a antenna that would be able to utilize that.

Derekuda is correct. There are only a couple perks you get by staying at a Disney OWNED resort hotel. The perks I know of are you can pay in Disney using the MagicBand and you can open your room door with it. Other than that I don't know of any thing else. You can buy MagicBands at just about all of the shops in Disney and online. If you get an annually pass they also give you a complimentary solid color one or you can upgrade to a fancy one for $5 to $20. I just renewed my passes that expired in April 2020 and selected the bands online. Had to goto Disney Springs to renew the passes as they are not doing that online like they did before COVID.

Make sure you have BlueTooth enabled.

They also have a battery in them. Here I just cut one of my old band's puck open to see what was inside.

Hey there you go, Apple Watch bands with unique NFC chips. Wear your Disney band while at the park, NYC band for mass transit, etc...

So this works via NFC? I forget which iOS update Apple opened up that API. Anyone know if the Marriott room key feature uses Bluetooth or NFC?

In Disney now and can’t seem to have that option yet. Made sure app is up to date...still nada

That is the screen that I had yesterday in the app. Today when I checked it was different and let me add my annual pass to my Apple Wallet. They are probably rolling in out in batches. Keep checking it.

That is NOT true. I looked into this very thoroughly.

I have personally done this. I have a band that I purchased sitting on my desk right in front of me. It definitely works. You can buy magic bands online, right now, on the Shop Disney web site. I have used it for all of the mentioned things, and fastpass and photos are extremely convenient vs the card.

Now, one thing to be clear: this is exclusive to Disney World in Florida. Last time I checked, pre-Covid, it was not an option in Disney Land in CA.

They are not allowing expired passes to renew online. If you kept your pass during COVID, you can still renew online.

Not enough. They sell them ALL over the park. I have never stayed at a disney hotel and I have 3 different magic bands that I bought in the parks and are linked to my annual pass. Anyone can buy a magic band.
Annual pass is another way in.

You cared enough to comment, would ya look at that? 💚 Anyways, everyone should care about vaccination if they don't want to be wearing masks into 2023. Particularly as it pertains to a crowded place mobbed with strangers from all corners of the world, in very close quarters... you know, like Disney World.

You can get vaccinated tomorrow, by the way. Swing by your grocery store and join their vaccine waste avoidance list, they'll call you within 48 hours and as long as you get there in 30 minutes - you're done. Once a package of vials is open, they either use them or lose them, so if people with appointments miss it, you're on deck.

It is completely true. Here is the link to shopDisney.com You can but all that you want. They are $15.00 to $50.00 each. You can also buy them in the parks for the same price and have them linked to your passes.
