That’s cool. I’ll try it when I can go back to Disneyland without restrictions. I was a season pass owner for many years and the Disney experience eroded each year. Only reason I can imagine going again would be for Galaxy’s Edge. Otherwise thanks for the memories.

Not at all, just adding more options. All that hardware installed on every resort room, the ticket entrances, the NFC portals for photos etc. Disney has said Magicbands are not going away they are just providing more options. They still sell and keep coming up with new Magicbands, if they were going away they would stop making them. It's the free side of it they can't justify anymore.

Ya thats what Disney is trying to cut costs on, just like Magical Express, they didn't operate it themselves but partnered with another company. That was a free service if you were flying into MCO and staying at a Disney Resort (sure it's added into room costs/park ticket costs but still). Thanks to the Pandemic the parks have operated at a major loss. Disney may be rich a.f. but they don't like nor want (and neither do their shareholders) anything operating at a loss.

These are all cost cutting moves to get them closer to the black.
Not to mention, MagicBands sell like hot cakes and are one of the most profitable items they sell resort-wide. It probably costs them a few cents to produce and they sell for an average of $20 each.

Also, you have the sexiest Memoji ever.

This is such a useless comment that adds nothing to this discussion reguarding a phone app. All you are doing is touting about how you got vaccinated. I promise you, no one cares.
You sure about that? I care LOL. Might want to check your answer there. And I’d hate to say that no one cares about your comment either because of how rude it is.

This could be a double edged sword for Disney. Here's why:

Scenario 1 - You hold your iPhone to the reader and they let you in. But do they require you to also use your fingerprint like before with the Magic Bands? If so, then it's not really a contactless process because you still have to physically touch something. Which in this day in age isn't a good thing with the fear of COVID and all.

Scenario 2 - Hold the iPhone to the reader and they let you in without using your fingerprint. Sounds great, but what's to stop people from borrowing their friend's or family member's iPhones and going to Disney on the house?

There was an article the other day that they've been testing facial recognition at the entrances as well, with no mask removal. I assume that it for the contact-less part of the equation, and solves the #2.

Annual pass is another way in.
I isn’t limited to anyone - I had friends there in 2019 that had one day passes, they used the app and bought a band to use as a souvenir.

Edited - this was another poster: I’m not sure why you never used your card/ticket again during the day. Didn’t you make fast passes and use it at the turnstiles? Ugh, honestly, I don’t miss having to track those cards anymore. Give the kids bands and you are good to go.

We just were able to renew our Annual Passes that expired 2/22/20 - psyched to get back in the parks. Semi-Local so it won’t be hours in masks thankfully.

I’ll leave a band on my bags so it scans for pictures. Except I didn’t get a pass with photopass this go around, we barely used it in 2019/20.

Good luck trying to use it to buy anything total fail right now….scanning into parks works great but that’s about all

Use Apple Pay…? Which works literally EVERYWHERE in WDW. I just got back and had no issues whatsoever with Magic Mobile.
