Well i don't intend on playing any FPS games like Call of Duty on it because i don't think my computer could play at 1920x1080. I may may may may may play games like SC2, however it will mainly be for a extension to my screen and especially for when i am doing programming.

Then one of the Ultrasharps will probably a good choice for you. From the resolution you mentioned im guessing you are looking at the 23". I understand that the 23" is within your budget. However, I really do recommend the 24" to keep the same 16:10 screen ratio as your MBP. And IMO 16:9 just looks too wide.
Also I think with the 24" you will need to get an adapter to dvi any bigger will need the dual link dvi. I think with the 23" you can use HDMI. My computer was before the mini display port and came with dual link DVI. So maybe some one else can help with that.

Display port is fine.

I am surprised no one said this, but ASUS makes SUPERB monitors that are pretty cheap. I got one last October for $180 shipped. It was a 24" i believe.

Just checked the price of 24"
Way outta my budget. :(

Yea, I didnt think it was way out of budget...only $80. Remember this is something your going to use presumably every day, for a long time. If it were me personally I would probably wait and save an additional $80 for the 24". I am in no way telling you what to do, if you would be happy with the 23" get that. Im only saying from my personal experiences and my sickness of the upgradesies. If you buy the best it only hurts once....
Something to note is that it looks like all the ultrasharps are on sale, those prices wont last. But they do seem to go on sale or have coupons every couple months.

It's not $80 out of my budget it is $280 out of my budget. My budget was $400 and that display is $680

ahh that sucks, sorry then

I wonder if you could still get the discount that the US store is having. I guess it never hurts to call and ask.

Worst bit is the Aussie dollar is parity with the US dollar. Also we both have to pay import taxes because there made in China. You would actually think it would be cheap for us, because we are closer to China.

Another option is to google for coupon codes I tried a quick search and found some but im not sure if they would work in the australian store. And your google is going to give you different results then mine.
