Just ignore those clowns. I have seen many of them in this forum.I wasn't going around "diving deep to find problems." Lol no worries I have better things to do than that.
I watch YouTube Videos in bed with all lights off and noticed this issue.
Are you saying my usage scenario is "weird?"
Lol...now I get told on how I get to use my own device at home...ridiculous
This is super disappointing and definitely defeats the purpose of the "premium" OLEDI have this problem and it is getting so frustrating!! I use dark mode on my iPhone 12 Pro 24/7 and the screen flickers even in the Settings app.
I agree. I have spoken to several Apple Support via phone and chat and what they do is they run a diagnostics only to say that the phone is fine. 🤷🏻♂️This is super disappointing and definitely defeats the purpose of the "premium" OLED
Did you get your iPhone 12 recently? No flashing on my iPhone 12. Hopefully this isn’t a wind up or that’s a couple of mins standing in a dark room and time i’ll never get back lol.
Well launch day so yes, 5 weeks ago.Did you get your iPhone 12 recently?
Interesting. Since it’s not happening on yours and it was a launch day phone this leads me to think it’s a hardware issue. I had the issue on a 12 Pro and returned it since it bothered me. I may try to order a 12 to see if I get one that doesn’t have the issue.Well launch day so yes, 5 weeks ago.
Might just be pot luck depending on the batches used.Interesting. Since it’s not happening on yours and it was a launch day phone this leads me to think it’s a hardware issue. Would you like to give any advice on how to reproduce it? I played the all black YouTube video shared on this thread and had no flashes, flicker or green hue showing up for several minutes. All those who are saying that they do not have these raised black and greenish tint issue, they just don’t know how to reproduce it. Good for them.
Mate, I too was pretty happy that, my iPhone 12 PM, does not have any raised black levels in pitch dark, as I couldn't notice it playing the black video in context.Might just be pot luck depending on the batches used.

What do you suggest? If it is indeed that hard to reproduce, is it in fact a problem after all?

However, just out of curiosity, I played same video on iPhone 12 PM & Huawei P30 Pro side by side at 0 brightness in pitch black darkness, and there I could see the greenish/grayish glow on iPhone 12 PM. P30 Pro was totally black.
Then, I had some solace that at least my phone doesn't flicker; but set the brightness to 30%, play the black video, it flashed randomly.
And if you still do not have these issues, then it's really great.
Yup, u r right. The issues being discussed here are the complete spectrum of issue. The very specific issue that causes discomfort to meh is when I watch videos on netflix, prime videos daily before sleeping for 1-1.5 hrs with lights off. During the dark scenes, the black/dark areas on screen sometimes appear greenish / glowing. But that's a significant discomfort.A problem that can only be seen by using the phone in a specific way that I don't normally use my phone, is not a problem for me.
get a pineapple phoneReturn the phone...go to a different brand.
Fixed with iOS 14.5. will be released to public soon.i heard about the flickering raised blacks and green tiny issues bu ti decided to get it anyway. luckily i had no problems for a month now. i love this phone, the form factor, the camera, everything. Last night i was watching netflix on my phone in a dark room in the evening. I had trouble loading shows so i rebooted the phone, and bam! at the boot screen with apple logo, the phone was flickering every second between pure black background and grey. Then back to netflix, the black letterbox bars on top and bottom flicker between pure black and grey. so distracting! loaded up youtube pure black test video, the whole screen is grey, not black. when i flip to portrait mode, it goes pure black, but full screen is not black lol. the flickering is different on different brightnesses. on max brightness its not as flickering. Does anyone know at this point if its a hardware or software issue? the fact that it was perfect until last night makes me think its software? idk. has anyone had this issue and it went away?
EDIT: after more testing it seems to do it all the time in youtube, but less in netflix, and almost not on safari. pure black works FINE on background of messages app in dark mode. BLack image on google is perfect black when i DONT zoom or scroll, if i zoom or move image it shows grey and then when i stop it shows black. related to motion somehow? also if i open control center and close it, it shows grey for a few moments and goes back to black. software issue maybe?
