This is going to be my first mac mini experience so I am asking ya'll your recommendation for a good display for m1 mini?

I am going to use it mainly for work, excel, word and web browsing/youtube. etc.

I am particularly interested on ultrawide monitors and higher resolution. minimum of 4k?

I've been seeing a lot of threads that m1 seems to have problems with ultrawide monitors. I am hoping ya'll can give me a direction on which monitor to buy. One without known issues thus far.

Thanks a lot!!

LG 48" 4k OLED TV. One display that serves all your needs.

I just bought the M1 Mac mini (16GB, 512GB) along with the LG 32UL950-W. The computer and display are both AMAZING! Loving both so far! I thought about getting an Ultrawide display but now I'm glad I stuck with the traditional 16:9 ratio. I have the display setting set to 3008 x 1692 and it's perfect for me! The screen real estate is big, the colors are gorgeous (I have it set to DCI-P3), and it's pretty crisp from a seated distance away. I am coming from a 27" 5K iMac so I did notice a slight difference in pixelation when right up against the display. This is so minor though and doesn't bother me at all. I love how big it is and how it somewhat mimics the look of the Apple Pro Display XDR. Same size and thin 4-sided bezels. I LOVE that it doesn't have a logo at the center/bottom of the display like every other monitor out there. I'm VERY happy with this monitor! One thing I should let you know is that every time I wake the computer, the display detects the wake, then displays a "no signal" message, and goes back to sleep. I have to unplug the Thunderbolt cable and plug it back in and it works. This is most likely a software issue that either Apple or LG needs to fix and only happens when I put the computer to sleep and try and wake it. Hopefully it's fixed soon!

I'm old fashioned so I use a 2011 Thunderbolt 27" LED display (2560x1440 @ 60Hz WQHD) with the M1 Mini using an Apple TB3-TB2 adapter - looks so good together!

I also have a second display: 4K 32" that I have connected via HDMI...

Thanks for the info on your experience — I am very close to ordering the M1 16GB/256GB with the LG 32UL950-W. I have read so many posts in various forums on issues with the M1 and displays — I’m not sure what to do, sounds like some people have had issues like you and others have not? Thanks!

You're welcome! I gotta stress that despite the issue I absolutely love my new setup! You will be so happy with it! I've just stopped putting the computer/monitor to sleep for now until the issue is fixed.

The issue affects only super/ultrawide displays. This LG wouldn’t be affected by this since it’s a standard 16:9 display.
Very good monitor thought! Only complaints I read is about build quality which is poor for a monitor of that price. If it matters to you, Dell U3219Q is virtually the same monitor but with business grade build quality and flicker free.

I have:

LG 32BN88U-B 31.5” Ergo IPS UHD 4K Ultrafine Monitor (3840x2160) with Ergonomic Stand & C-Clamp, USB Type-C, DCI-P3 95%(Typ.), HDR10 and AMD FreeSync, Black

It works excellent with my new M1 mini.

That’s incorrect. I have the LG 32UL950-W with a new M1 Mac mini and every time I wake the computer, the display detects the wake, then displays a "no signal" message, and goes back to sleep. Btw the build quality is very nice!

One thing I dislike about LG displays is they use external power supply whereas Dell uses an internal power supply. With LG, you have yet another power brick laying around. But that might just be personal taste.

Thanks for info. I only read the notice on Apple’s website stating it was a problem with wide monitors, but there might be issues with others .

Build quality comments didn’t come from me. It’s what I read in majority over the last few days on the web regarding many LG vs Dell monitors. I’m looking for a new set of monitors too. Will likely take two U2720Q.

I got the LG 32UL950-W setup yesterday, and I absolutely LOVE IT. It is definitely a change from the dual 27” displays I was using, but I get plenty of screen “real estate space” and actually like the extended height that gives me more room on the display when viewing webpages! My M1 was estimated delivery for 1/19, it is not on it’s way and delivery scheduled for 1/06!

Really interested into your feeling. I want to get two U2720Q, but still looking at the U3219Q/LG 32UL950-W.

Which setup do you like the most ? Not sure I want to have split screen 100% of the time on a 32’’... 2x 27’’ are still my first choice but not quite sure yet.

Nice setup! For your LaCie SSD TB 2, did you have to buy an adapter to connect it to the M1? I have 2 LaCie drives that I will need to connect and they are currently connected as TB 2 to my existing Mac. I have the new Mac Mini M1 16GB/256GB arriving next week!

If it’s Thunderbolt 2, it uses a Mini DisplayPort conmector. Then yes, you meed a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.

Yes, you do need the Apple TB3-TB2 adapter for your LaCie SSD TB1/2 drive.

There is even enough bus power thru the adapter from the back of the 27" TB display too...

I got mine cheap on eBay for $25USD each - I use 3 of them on my M1 Mini.

"... planned for a future macOS update."

Can't get anymore vague than that. No mention of what resolutions or displays they plan support for.

I have until January the 8th to return my Mac mini.

I am really enjoying not having dual displays, and it’s nice to split the 32” screen with two different applications I am working on when necessary.

No issues with my LG 27UL850-W. Can use either HDMI or USB-C or probably even display port to mini (have not tried that option yet).

I decided to use HDMI and have Zero issues. Looks great!

I was also wondering this. What would be the cheapest option for a display? Like under 300 dollars? Just out of curiosity
