You're welcome! I gotta stress that despite the issue I absolutely love my new setup! You will be so happy with it! I've just stopped putting the computer/monitor to sleep for now until the issue is fixed.
Hey — have you had any luck with the 11.2 update and your sleep/wake issues with the M1 and your LG 32UL950?

I had another user on a different forum suggest I change the DisplayPort setting on the LG monitor from 1.4 to 1.2 and that solved all the sleep/wake, kernel panic restarts. With that change, you loose the HDR option on the M1 in Display Settings. I am using the same resolution you are at 3008 x 1692, it’s been perfect. But I want to make sure I am getting the maximum benefit for the LG monitor — so I am unsure where to go from here since it doesn’t appear the update helped this issue?

I have:

LG 32BN88U-B 31.5” Ergo IPS UHD 4K Ultrafine Monitor (3840x2160) with Ergonomic Stand & C-Clamp, USB Type-C, DCI-P3 95%(Typ.), HDR10 and AMD FreeSync, Black

It works excellent with my new M1 mini.
What cable do you use?

FWIW - and I'm not a power user - after much research and hemming and hawing, I decided on the Asus Pro Art PA278QV 27" 1440p screen, to go with our new Mac Mini M1.
The screen is great, but the monitor stand is a work of art. Solid, tilt / swivel / height. If you're coming from a Retina laptop screen, this one will be a nice match. Got ours at NewEgg.ca ($449 Cdn, about $330 USD)

In my experience coming from a Retina MacBook Pro to my office non-Retina iMac, even adjusting for resolution, there was a qualitative shift that bugged me (fortunately with the pandemic I've managed to work from home for the past two years).

That's why I chose the Asus ProArt. It's resolution matches (in a non-retina way, but still UHD) the display resolution of my workhorse iMac 27" 5K. At some point I want to go back to a dual-monitor setup, and the ProArt will sit nicely alongside my iMac. We considered the ProArt purchase a test-run for that scenario. It matches so well with the Mac Mini M1, though, I'll probably just get another one and leave the Mini as it is.
