A client is asking me if I could fix his iMac.
Specs:
Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020
Processor 3,1 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i5
Videokaart AMD Radeon Pro 5300 4 GB
Memory 72 GB 2133 MHz

I only have this image, but I can ask for more. I never seen the borders like this. He says he saw it only after upgrading to Tahoe, but I wouldn't think it has anything to do with that..
Any ideas? Thanks

That's a hardware failure/burn-in issue that can crop up due to too many hours in operation. One of the old-as-dirt 4K HP monitors on my desk at work has the same malady, and it was in continuous operation for around six years before it even landed in my lap. I would speculate that your client never turns off his iMac nor sleeps the screen. He probably only noticed it after the software update, due to a change to the background image.

Pretty sure the only fix is a panel replacement.

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing about the wallpaper. I'll ask him.

Yes, it's got to be burn-in. My 2017 27" has basically been on for 8 years but display is set to sleep after about 10 minutes, and I've had no issues.

Thanks, the guy looked up the photo's from the original offer from where he bought it and there it also shows the burn-in. He probably didn't notice up until now..
