I'm specifically talking about this one app. No DJ worth his salt is going to forego the control and features available to him at this turntables/mixer/laptop to DJ a show on his watch. The most I can see this being used is in a pinch if the DJ has to step down for a few minutes to handle a situation.

Bingo. All the DJs I know use turntables professionally. That's how it's done. It's good only for a few seconds if the DJ needs to get a drink or rotate with someone. But that's about it.

Oh my god the whining on this forum is ridiculous.

Are you all 9 years old or do you actually have a bit of sense to decide for yourself that if you don't want something you don't have to have it.

I don't even know why I'm commenting on this thread. The whole thing is embarrassing.

As I've said from day one, other then notifications,

or fitness activities,
or health monitoring,
or texting and calling while on the same wifi network as the phone,
or controlling lights, garage doors, or locks,
or playing music to Sonos speakers,

smart watches are useless. NO ONE will ever use apps like these.

FIXED

That said, I agree that THIS app looks worthless.

This is ridiculous. If Apple's goal was to make the watch cut down on distraction, they didn't do a good job of it. This is not what the Apple Watch was supposed to be.

What if their goal is the opposite? The watch (+ unseen iPhone) will become the literal hub of a user's existence. They can't take a piss without consulting their watch first. It's what a marketing VP's wet dreams are made of.

Barrage of App fails so far.

I know everyone is trying to create the "it" app for the Apple Watch, but in the last few weeks I have seen nothing but a barrage of useless apps. Music and video mixing on a 1.5" screen is a fail, period.

I think this is one thing Apple got wrong about the Apple Watch, treating it like a phone or tablet platform with a potential of millions of apps. So far I have seen very few useful apps, and a LOT of apps that simply duplicate the functionality that is already available on it, like health tracking and message/notifications.

Apple keeps going on about how great a million app platform is, but they don't realize that when 60% of all apps are never downloaded and most apps are 1 or 2 stars on average this is a crapform, not a platform.

the fact that an app like this may be useless does not mean SWes are useless. the activity tracking is my #1 use case, and that lends itself perfectly to a smartwatch.

----------

apple didnt make this app. and it's not apple job to tell devs which apps make sense or not.* devs will learn on their own and the failed apps will go away.

* dear lord can you imagine the sheet-storm that would rain down if apple did as you suggested and BANNED apps that it thought were dumb? nuts.

Actually it's the guidelines Apple needs to follow themselves to put appropriate apps into the watch. If an app takes more than a minute or two to operate, it drains the battery. It's meant to be used for a few seconds.

This app doesn't appear to do that. It's more of s remote control app that directs the DJay program. But it should never replace the turntables in a professional setting. Anyone who does that is a fool.

I can only see it being used for personal listening.

Not to mention Cook went on to say that the watch would change lives in a melodramatic voice on stage. Listen to voice and how he says it on the keynote video.. Oh, really!?! This app doesn't appear life changing at all.

The funny thing is, people here didn't see this coming.

As I said, Games, Video's etc etc.

Nooo Noo you all (well some of you) say, it's not meant for that.

Well hey, newsflash it's a computer, people use computers for all types of things, and everyone wants something different.

Unless Apple bans such apps, then THEY WILL appear.

Kids will be playing games on the watch.

Does not matter what you say, or how many time you quote Apple saying a few seconds at a time.

And yes, it will kill the battery.

This is the price you pay for making the watch a whole computer device and not just a notification only device mainly.

Will be interesting how Apple handles this. If they block such apps or let them thru.

Is there a watch app that tracks the dumps I take?

Yes, and it will be able to count the number of wiping strokes, and suggest you need more to obtain that fresh result you are looking for.

Next...

an app that lets you watch HD movies right on your wrist, streaming via airplay from any Apple device. Listen to ultra HD sound right on the bluetooth headphones and experience a unique movie experience...

I bet someone is working on that as well. As useless as discussion about new strap colors. Seriously...

Some of these apps are getting ridiculous. Who wants to mix tracks on your wrist and kill the battery life of the watch? The watch is meant to receive information at a glance or send information quickly.

*****, I'm just going to strap the iPhone to my wrist.

*****, I'm just going to strap the iPhone to my wrist.

It's only sending and receiving simple control commands, just like Apple's Remote. It's not mixing songs on the watch.

How is that going to kill battery?

I can see it for personal use at home to control your music playlist, but for professional DJ-ing? No. Just HELL NO.

Apple should've been much more strict on the kind of apps allowed on the watch. And on another small note, someone posted a clip here of Cook and execs dancing to an outdoor live music event by Pharrell Williams and my god, do they look dorky doing that. These are the kind of guys that brought Beats into this company.

I've seen Djay and it's a good app that works well on the laptop or desktop screen. Disclaimer: I don't DJ but I've a good friend who previously has.

I think whats more ridiculous is whiny people like you. No one is forcing you to get the app so stop complaining!

Why can't we have more Apple Watch news?

YES!!!
Checking every 15 minutes, a lot of must have information.

Please MR publish the UPS tracking numbers, so people can see if they are winners in the "I almost have my Awatch" lottery.

The watch isn't even out yet, how can the usefulness of apps for it be judged until they are released and tested? It will take time for the good apps to separate from the bad/useless apps. Don't you remember how long it took for the iOS app store to get useful apps? I'd much rather have a lot of worthless apps and some good ones than not have the options.

I used to use the original DJay app. when they came out with Djay 2, they disabled the original and you were forced to buy the new app if you wanted to use it. I refused to pay a second time. So now I will download this since its free. Hopefully they don't come out with version 3 and do this all over again.

Not sure if it's the same in all countries but in the UK the App Store has just updated and this week Djay2 is free. Just thought you might be interested as you didn't want to pay for it

To me, an example of something better done on a different device. Not everything is better or needs to be on the watch. And I hope that every app developer doesn't suddenly try to "force" their app to integrate with the watch. Just because it can, doesn't mean it should.

To each their own, of course. But for something that should be for quick information (primarily) - some of these apps I'm seeing/hearing about seem to be about spending a lot of time looking/engaging with the watch face. Not only that - but a huge battery drainer if its the case.

It's ok if an App doesn't have Apple Watch integration if it wouldn't benefit from it. I hope developers realize that more than trying to being "cool."

In all honesty I can only see myself actually using the apps that vibrate the watch to warn me of appointments, notifications, emails and texts. All the other stuff can stay on my iPhone. The screen is too small to use most of these stupid apps.

People will always find innovative ways to leverage new types of devices. For example, some people wear a GoPro helmet so they can shoot homemade POV porn. I suppose it helps if the person on the receiving end has a fetish for people with brain injuries or prone to seizures.
