I am unable to find any info on Apple’s website in regards to the coating info on the SS and Ti models. Which ones are coated with DLC?

Without speculation or assumption, the only ones listed on the Apple site as having a DLC coating are the Black Titanium and Black Hermes SS I believe.

Only one listed is the space black titanium. Whether or not the graphite and space black SS are still dlc is still discussed a lot of threads here.

Can you send me the link to it? I can’t seem to find it. Sorry to trouble you.

No more finishes listed on this sheet under support..

OK so.....

If you go back to October 2020 and look at the tech specs for the S6, it doesn't list any coatings in the tech specs under Finishes until you click on the coloured dot for the various finishes, and then it shows DLC for SBTi only

Do the same for the S7 and it doesn't show DLC on any finishes, including SBTi

If you go back to the S5 in November 2019 and click on the coloured dots, it shows SBSS (DLC), Gold SS (PVD). Nothing on either Ti models

Thanks for doing that, so where did the claim that graphite was DLC on the S6 come from?

If you go to the UK page for the S6 in Oct/Nov 2020, instead of the default US page, it DOES list the graphite as DLC, but DOESN'T list the SBTi as DLC o_O

Thanks, I looked thru the beginnings of the other thread that started with the S6 release and there have been multiple references to the spec saying that graphite is indeed DLV, of course no screenshots but somehow I seem to recall that for S6 Apple specs stated DLC at some point.
Guess we’ll now have to email tcook@apple.com to get and official answer

This says nothing about today. It is an imperfect web achieve. Apple could have put the information somewhere else. Like they removed it from the tech sheet and put it under finishes.

Correct, it doesn’t say anything for today. However it does say there are inconsistencies in how Apple state or don’t state what finishes are on the watches. For example, different country sites for the same Watch, on the same date, can state DLC, or not.

For example, different country sites for the same Watch, on the same date, can state DLC, or not.
And I don’t think they would keep this information online if it is not true. When you go to the apple support site -> watch -> tech specs -> series 6 and then scroll through the different languages, you’ll find out that space black titanium is DLC, gold SS is PVD and graphite SS is DLC. They don’t mention the SB Hermes edition.

When you check the support tech specs for the S7, you’ll see that they don’t mention the coatings anymore for any finish. I looked all languages up and they’re not even mentioning the SBTi as DLC.

So my conclusion is they kept the finishes the same as it was with series 6 and just stopped writing it in the official support spec sheet.

So why only advertise the SBTi as DLC coated on the compare site? To get some people to pay 100 bucks more because they want to have certainty.

You can „forget“ some information on the compare site to make one expensive Watch look better value for the higher price. But you can’t do this in the official support data sheet! So better to don’t mention any finish there. This is how I would do it to maximize profit.
