what exactly is wring with firefox 2?

Firefox 2 is pretty awful on OS X... it doesn't feel right, and it closes occasionally.

Is there a browser I've missed somewhere?
what exactly is wrong with firefox 2? this is my browser of choice and I love it.
Highly customizable and really quite stable.
Could you articulate your objections to it? what do you mean by "it doesn't feel right"? The look? try different skins (the default one sucks). I use GrApple(Eos) and it makes Firefox look very OS X.

Safari is my favorite browser, but I too have been having problems with it lately.

Some websites seem to give me the spinning ball of death, and then safari crashes on me. Seems like every night, I'll wake up and find a pop-up saying safari has closed.

EXACTLY the same problem as me! Beachballs on pages, sometimes it will recover, other times I have to force quit. And then about once a day, the "Safari has closed" dialog.

Things like the form controls... it also feels very big compared to other OS X apps, and Myspace makes it close quite often.

i hate safari 3... I wish i had the option to use safari 2 on leopard. I cant even login to my cpanel without it crashing. also using wordpress, it destroys the wysiwyg formatting.

If there's one thing that bugs me with Safari is the broken form buttons. And I've seen this in other forms, not just vBulletin.

But for example with this very forum, go edit your post and then try to save it. Now, would you like to post a poll, cancel or cancel?

People have been complaining about this bug for the best part of a year, there's really no excuse.

I've since switched to firefox, hoping that safari will be fixed soon. Firefox works ok (so far), but the GUI is horrible compared to safari. I'm also not a fan of command+w not closing the window when there is only one tab in the window.

I just downloaded Firefox to test your claim. To the contrary, command+w did close the window even when it contained only one tab.

this function is user controllable. but i can't remember how to set it right now. i'm using the beta and TMP so i can't look and see.

Safari works fine for me. However, it was crashing a lot just after I installed a Security Update several months ago. Then for some reason it just stopped doing it. Never figured out why. Lately, I have been using Firefox too, and it seems to run faster than Safari on Tiger on my G3 iMac. One thing that bothers me though is that often it won't scroll down pages using the page down key on the keyboard. Instead I have to click in the scroll bar to get the page to scroll down.

Safari for me locks up for about 3 seconds every time I open a link in another tab.

Firefox 3.0.2 uses a lot of proc, less ram usage but more CPU usage than safari. Is that consistent with you guys too?

So for now, its FF 3 for me, safari/webkit nightlys are pissing me off.

not my experience at all. FF3 b3 open all day with 8 tabs, cpu bounces between 1.4 and 3%, RAM is about 100MB. safari, just opened with 8 tabs open, cpu bouncing between 2-4%, about 75MB of ram.

that's the biggest difference i've seen with FF3, cpu usage is way down over FF2. FF2 usually would hover around 10% for me.

Dont remember any recent Safari crashes on both of my Macs. 10.5.1 and haven't installed any security updates yet.

Safari is my favorite browser

I've been switching back and forth between Safari and Firefox for a year or so. I've always done that though. Netscape and IE back in the day...I can't ever make up my mind.

I have a similar problem ever since the switch...
I use camino firefox and safari and switch every now and then...

camino is def. the fastest of them in my opinion...
firefox is great because of all the plugins but is slow...
safari is nicely integrated and has a few cool plugins but sure lags from time to time...

shiira would be a very cool browser but is still too buggy for me to use on a reg. basis.

Are people with crashing Safari using plug-ins?

Not me - and it crashes daily, if not more than daily.

Safari, slow, clunky, unreliable, 'Safari has closed', but what's the point in sending a report - they've not fixed it yet.

Firefox, hates quicktime and crashes with it (on both PC and Mac)

Camino, can't render many pages properly

Opera, ewwwww

You know what - the guy's right - every OSX browser sucks. Browsing on my PC is a more reliable, faster experience.
