Yeah my parents have always thought that video games are a waste of Money, but now that my nephew wants them they but it for him so go figure. I remember when I was little they use to tell that I could only play NES for one hour at a time because it would mess up the colors on the TV.

I think it could if the image was static for long enough.
My desktop got burned into my Dell monitor once, but they replaced it.

I think they just said that since I was young and knew I wouldn't argue with them if they told me that as a way of limiting the amount of time I was playing.
