I have the original Apple TV4K connected to a 2017 OLEDB7A (Here are the specs: https://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-OLED55B7A-oled-4k-tv ).

Can anyone help me justify buying the new Apple TV4K? I hope you all can help me find a convincing reason to buy one; otherwise, the other working adult in the house who pays 1/2 the bills with me and controls me all the time says I can't have one!

The new AppleTV remote if you totally despise the existing one and actually have been using it instead of a third party device or the iPhone app. Other than that, no, there is no compelling reason.

Why would you want it if you cannot even come up with a reason? Both have 4K hdr. Same OS. Same experience on each.

Personally I see absolutely no reason at all to upgrade at the moment.
For the most part it’s going to perform no different than your current model will.
As above if you want the new remote then just buy that separately.

Ok, I need to come up with my selling points for the new remote.

Well I guess that’s all going depend on what the cures feelings are towards the current remote and what it’s used for.
If you play the odd game that requires the motion control then the new remotes not going win that argument.
If the current remote is despised for the many reasons others seem to despise it the the new one will be a vast improvement.
Tell her its got a Mute button and see if that works Lol.

LMAO!! Yep, she would love that, especially since I have audio running through a subwoofer that shakes the room!

Unless you play games on your ATV, then I can possibly see the justification for the new ATV 4K. But for most, it's really not worth it.

I simply just purchased the new remote instead.

When i upgraded the the Apple TV HD to the 4k version i was surprise how much better and snappy the UI felt. Seemed like a worthwhile upgrade. I have 4 ATVs 4k versions now. I'm going to buy a new version just because i want to replace the main living room ATV for fun. Hopefully i'll notice some improvement like before. These 4k apple TVs have been a fantastic quality wise.

Yea my brother says the Apple TV 4k made his old 1080p TV pop out with color although it was not a 4k tv!

Oh, also the new one will have a longer warranty period than what you have. It’s not an unnecessary purchase, it’s a necessary protection.

Don't you need the new one for 4K HDR at 60 FPS?

I actually use the old 1080p version because for 4K I have other devices. Nevertheless, I may upgrade to have a faster UI this time. The only thing I'm cautious about are the rumors of M1 or similar Apple TV rumors.
